Did a few trails and even found a few wild horses... I will post some more pix soon.
It's been a long time since I explored that area, I recall roads being pretty restricted for visitors to the Reservation. There were just a few roads we were allowed to drive along approved tourist routes, pretty much every side road was signed for local use only. Which trails did you find in the area?

I was actually talking about the trip in general not on the Res as you are 100% right that every side trail was restricted access. I will share some more trail photos a bit later tonight.

Awesome trip, glad you guys were able to enjoy that.

We went up from Phoenix 2 months ago. Definitely worth a stay at “The View” hotel there inside Monument Valley.

Here’s the view of the Sunrise I caught from the room.

I went with a group a few years ago in my JK. There was some boon docking near Mexican Hat that's pretty easy in/out. They arranged for us to camp down in the valley which was amazing. Well worth the visit. Canyon de Chelly is even more special - not sure you can get in there with your Jeep anymore, but jump at the chance if you can.

That's exactly what I'm interested in. I wondered if the casita could handle some of the roads,I'm sure they are not smooth but that image, shows me someone has done it.

June is probably starting to get pretty warm. I don't have a small generator but I do have 220 watt solar panels too charge the battery during the day. I might want to invest in a small gen. will be carrying 2 Wavian 5 gal gas cans.

Thanks for the image
If it has not rained recently, the roads are in pretty well graded. We saw RV's and sedans on the loop road.

Was out there several years ago with my ex GF. Fantastic place. Would have loved to have seen it way before modernization and commercialization

Be prepared for hot weather. It gets brutal out there in the summer.
Definetly, I use to acclimate to the environments pretty easy I'm 69 but I usually do well in the heat. I plan on watching the weather and go from thier.

2nd week of June is what I'm shooting for
Waiting on Diamondback to ship my SE cover, very much an essential piece of equipment for this trip for me.

We were out there about a month ago and ran into the worst sand storm I have ever seen with visibility less than 10 feet. We drove about half way there and after stoping to talk with someone who was coming back and said that they couldn’t see anything we decided to turn back.
It’s still on our list and we will get there someday.

Same happened on our trip. Tent campers got wiped out. It was intense

The best I can do is prepare, I rode out tropical storm Harold at South Padre last year wasn't very fun pretty much stuck in the trailer a full day. Gave me the opportunity to do a comprehensive leak check and found a pretty good leak, fixed it when I got home. The little casita did pretty good threw the trailer back and forth but the dunes behind the trailer helped immensely to reduce the full impact.

Comments about the wind definitely should be taken seriously and the temperatures. I just ordered a gas generator (comes with high altitude jet) so if I have too, I can run the air conditioner.
I'm very much looking forward to this trip.

Thanks for posting pictures I also had this on my places to go. I watched tons of westerns growing up, Lived over yonder in Germany as an teenager, visited many European countries, worked on corporate aircraft which took me to various south american countries but, nothing compares to the images like Monument Valley,Utah and the Grand canyon etc.
