Are any of you running these wheels as true beadlocks? Also, is anyone actually wheeling hard with these wheels?
My off-road needs are easily met by my stock truck. I got the XR take-offs because I like the way they look, while my stock Mojave wheels are just about my least favorite Gladiator wheel. I'll be reusing the Mojave wheels for winter snow tires. Which is perfect since they are all flat black, they won't show brake dust and other crap if I go 6 weeks between washings.

Looking for a 17” beadlock style wheel with less poke than a typical 0 or -12 offset. The 2 that are at the top of my list are:
Mopar beadlock 17x8 +12mm offset $317
AEV Borah beadlock 17x9 +25mm offset $459

Both wheels have a similar look. Are the AEV worth $600 more than a set of Mopars? Not sure……
Don't forget that the 392 (non Xtreme Recon wheels) are only 7.5 wide. Not sure of the offset.

Rosin, in post #2 on this thread clearly knew this. Notice how he is running 11.5" wide tires, recommended for a 7.5" wheel.

They are the ones that look like this.

The Dirty Life DT1 I ended up with are a very nice wheel. I am pretty sure they have a couple offset options as well. They come with a fake ring, but you can order actual beadlock rings as well. Just something to consider if you run in to back order problems.

I had mine painted to match as well.

I am not using them as true beadlocks yet, but I did take it off-road earlier this summer and got a bit of rash on one of the rings. Ground down one of the bolts pretty good, but luckily they are torx bolts so I was still able to get it off.

The blue rings to match the body color is a nice custom look! Good that Mopar sells replacement rings and the hardware kit separately in the event they are damaged.

Are any of you running these wheels as true beadlocks? Also, is anyone actually wheeling hard with these wheels? I'm wondering how the unprotected bolt heads are holding up to repeated contact with rocks.

I'm debating getting a set for my JK Rubicon.
I wanted these bronze ones because they look more 'military' perfectly matching the Sarge. Design is not typical of the common Method styles out there. Great Mopar wheels and of course beadlock capable. Best thing is you can replace the rings, not the whole wheels. Use anti-seize on the bolts for easier removal if damage to the bolt heads.

I've wheeled hard enough and only a few scratches on the ring part, bolts are somewhat protected, sunk in. Just spot painted them to cover the scratches, or take the rings off if easier. I imagine if you do gouge them bad enough, can strip the torx bolt head. I swapped the scratched ring to the spare. Someday I might try the bead lock rings and run even lower pressures, but only if I can find a good deal for a set, they're still about $100 each!

It's more muted gold I suppose. They also sell these in silver I think.

There are 2 styles of 392 wheels, 17x7.5 and 17x8 XR. You can still use up to 37s on the 7.5" wheels per others I've talked with.

If you get a 392 XR, they are just XR wheels. In other words, they are the wheels that come on all other XR jeeps, even a Willys. And like you said they are 8" wide.

The wheel that is unique to the 392 that I showed above is 7.5" wide.

Yes, I agree, people can and do run 35s on 7.5" wheels. Its not like everything is perfect at 8" wide and it all explodes at 7.5". Its all a matter of degree. They have to draw the line somewhere.

I will in fact be running Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT3 315/70-17s for winter tires on my stock 7.5" wide Mojave wheels.

Its interesting to me that other than the XR, all Wrangler/Gladiator wheels are the same width. From the steelies on the base Sport to the very pretty wheels on the 392 (non-XR).

Yep, I've run my 35s on these wheels as low as 17psi on several trails, no problems. I believe under 15 psi could be issues but not sure. Beadlock rings would take care of the lower pressures if you really need more traction. 37s I'll have to research more for approp min pressures.

Do people not realize that "35s" come in different widths? I run nominal 35x10x17 tires (255/85R17) on 7.5" wide wheels on my JK. Approved rim width for these tires is 6.5" to 8".

I agree with everything you said. Though in most cases when people are talking about "35s", they are talking about either 315/70s or 35x12.5. In which case most manufacturers specify a minimum rim width of 8.0 inches.

The 35x10.5 or 35x11.5's are popular because they are manufacturer approved on a stock 7.5" rim.

The wheels I showed are 17x7.5 and -44 offset
Yup. That makes sense. They are OEM 392 wheels. And you are running 10.5" wide tires, which are "approved" on 7.5" wide rims.

Isn't it funny how 35s look HUGE on a little 2 door like you have and are barely anything on a Gladiator.

My 35s ended up looking smaller than I expected on my JK, but I think it's because of how narrow they are. I really like these tires, and was thinking about them for my Gladiator, but I think I'd have to go wider to keep them from being 'swallowed up" by the JT.

I put the 392 wheels and stock 33’s on mine, only have some Teraflex wheel spacers. No real nicks or anything to speak of so far and they look 10 times better than my stock overland pizza cutters
