I figured, America’s Tire / Discount Tire sells the exact rims, surely they will mount them. Nope - local manager just saw “beadlock” and freaked out and refused. Discount rep on here even saw me post about it and wanted to know what shop so they could call and “educate” them. But chances are, you’ll go to a shop that has not yet been “educated” on this topic. I finally went to a local llantero, he didn’t give a shit and it was cheap and quick. So there’s that.
My local America's Tire (Discount Tire) was thrilled to get to mount tires on my Rebound Pros. Mine were the first set they'd gotten, and the manager himself worked with one of the techs to mount the tires.

So i am looking at the kmc grenade beadlock wheels. I like them and want them but am a bit concerned about the beadlock part for use as a mostly pavement vehicle. Does anybody have any personal experience with these wheels good or bad to help me out with making my choice ? I already know there not DOT approved.
I am running a set of 42x13.5 on 20inch KMC Grenades and so far have no issues. I just completed a 3K mile road trip on them with no issues.

Thanks for the input . we just ordered mine today. Do they have any kind of coating on them to stop from oxidizing ?

I can't say for sure but I don't think mine have any oxidation on them. I bought my Gladiator used with them already on them and as far as I know from the build sheet the wheels and tires are almost 2 years old in that pic and I've only had it about 5 months now. I would get you a current pic but it is at the dealership currently. I can post a current pic once I get it back if you want.

No one has mention this. Beadlocks will hold water, mud, and snow inside the rings. On the rim lip. Water isn't much of a problem. Mud and snow will throw the wheel out of balance until it gets removed either by being thrown off, or wiped off.

Wait until it's full of water that freezes to the wheel overnight...

Dirty Life DT1s & DT2s work the same way, can be mounted either beadlock or on a normal lip(the beadlock rings are sold separate though, they come with a plastic "rash ring")
Good to know, i am thinking about going in this direction for the limited times i might need bead lock for some epic trip.

How is that any different though than non beadlock wheels? I mean I get packed snow frozen inside my wheels whenever I go blasting in deep snow on my stock wheels. Sucks having to deal with the "square" wheels once that happens. Ugh!!

This reminds me of a story from when I picked up my sailboat from VA. The previous owner bought this boat but hardly ever used it. As such it had accumulated significant water in the amas (which are the outrigger floats on a trimaran). Like they were 3/4 of the way full. Well somehow I (nor the surveyor) didn't catch this and I transported her all the way home from VA to RI in December. Needless to say it was above freezing in VA but not so much in RI. After a few days I was finally able to devote some time to go over her and that's when I noticed the water in the amas had frozen solid. The amas were 24' long and the ice was about 2' thick. I near shit myself . I had visions of the amas being split open if I didn't take care it quick. I tried a heat gun but that would have never finished the job. I finally found some answers after searching online. Some Alaskan fisheries forum where the Captains were talking about solving this problem. Answer was to hook up your garden hose to your hot water outlet where the washing machine hooks up. Blasted it with 120 degrree water and had it all melted in about an hour??? Thank god.

Or use salt...

And I've never had water pool or freeze in my non-beadlock wheels.

Yeah, I suppose water is a much more common thing to deal with. I mean blasting around thru deep snow you can avoid usually and you know what you’re getting in for if you do.

hope your happy with your self, just ordered some DT-1's -12mm in matte gold and some beadlock rings.

Northridge 4x4 must have been conspiring with you, they sent me a 20% discount code that pushed me over the edge.
