I order a replacement fuel filter and it appears all Mopar offers is the entire housing for 23 JT. The break down shows the cartridge but doesn’t list a separate part number. Is Jeep expecting the entire housing? Is this required to maintain warranty? Really appreciate some information on this.

Thanks all for all the speedy responses! Is there any filter recommendations or something to stay clear of? Living the ecodiesel but with all of the issues trying to keep up with maintenance and hopefully avoid any headaches ?

Now you have spare parts.
Is this the part number for the housing and filter? 2020-2023 Jeep Fuel Filter 68382328AB | MOPAR Parts On Sale

That's not a bad price considering you get the filter housing, filter cap, and filter. I think it's a good idea to have an extra housing on hand, especially a replacement cap. At least on the EcoDiesel and Cummins, it seems like a lot of people booger up their caps and need those replaced.

As someone who's torn their fuel filter housing off when wheeling, I concur. It's nice to have an extra, and then get a proper skid on that thing if you do spicey trails so you don't tear it off.

@ OP - I personally do not use Mopar filters, I use Docs Diesel filters for air, oil, and fuel. They're much cheaper and meet Mopar standards. No issues so far and saved a ton of money. You can buy them on Amazon, at least in Canada.

This is craziness. First that you cannot get the filter without the entire housing. Second that the filter+housing can be bought for not that much more than the filter by itself.

I hope one day the supply chains get straightened back out. I am getting sick and tired of online stores with their "in stock" parts that end up being backordered for months after I place my order. And it is usually standard stuff (like a fuel filter or a motorcycle chain), not something exotic.

Something I am asking myself too.

Have bought and installed an original Mopar filter so far but also bought some stuff from China (where the Mopar off course also was manufactured). Have not seen a real difference but, to be honest, am not brave to test if I am right.

So, my recommendation at time is to use Mopar ...

I did the same thing on my first one. Didn't pay attention to the part number and the price wasn't bad enough to raise a red flag.

I buy a lot of my air, oil, and fuel filters from dieselfiltersonline.com. Sure enough, the fuel filters are currently out of stock. I usually keep at least a few fuel filters on hand, so I'm okay for now. I think I'll go ahead and buy the complete filter housing, though. Just the replacement cap by itself is $63.43.

I appreciate the advice. A lot of crap comes from China but with that IMO the best residential AC system I have worked with also comes out of China. It’s not just the build quality but the engineering is also superior although some of that goes to Bosch.
You just don’t know what you’re getting.
Doc’s says third party testing but no information on ecodiesel filters.

I've been told by the filter gurus that the Doc's filter is just as good as OEM. The Baldwin filter at Rock Auto is also just as good. The Baldwin is actually the same filter as Mopar or Docs, but I can't remember which one.

I swear by Docs, use them both my diesels now. I use their 5w40 (It's just rebranded Hotshot 5w40) as well for my deleted RAM EcoDiesel, will likely swap to it for my Gladiator once I delete it as well.
