So I am looking on how I would mount my vhf/uhf/cb radio before I actually buy one to use. I’m not living the look of mounting up above or near the top of the windshield…..

I saw there’s a bracket from quadratec, but anyone know any alternatives? Looking for some way to mount on the dashboard or maybe mounted on the lower windshield like a GPS? Possibly something that can mount with a ball arm?

many ideas?

You aren't going to find a VHF/UHF/CB combined radio so while you are contemplating think about 2 radios instead of 1.
Also most (not all) VHF/UHF ham radios have remote heads so the body of the radio can be mounted out of sight (under/behind the dash, under the seat, etc)

Ended up going with a UHF/VHF.

I'm not just trying to mount it where its a little out of the way, not necessarily out of sight. Any suggestions, or maybe available brackets/stands/mounts you recommend?

I'm in the process of transferring radios and antennas from another vehicle and am also looking over where to mount my two control heads. I had a Yaesu FTM-400 2m/70cm and an old Icom 706MKIIG for HF in the old truck, both having remote mount heads.

I have a left over RAM ball mount with about a 5" long extension and am considering mounting that to the lower left front face of the center console so it hangs the control heads out over the emergency brake handle. Not ideal but the control heads would angle up towards the driver and it would be easy to reach the knobs. The only question is if the plastic face of the console is strong enough for the weight and abuse.

The FTM-400 head is fairly small and flat and I might explore something overhead for that since the mic doesn't connect to the head and there would be no dangling mic cord. The 706 mic attaches to the head and complicates its location because the mic has to reach your face but not be in the way when stowed. The only thing holding me back right now on the install is finding a path for the 4ga power cables to go from the battery to under the rear passenger seat, then I'll concentrate on mounting the control heads.

I have posts on the forum with detailed pics on this exact radio.

Ill look later for a link and post. In the meantime do a search.

I mounted my radio on the back of the rear seats. And, i mounted the head on a vector off road bar.

I know you mentioned the quadratec mount... but that’s what I’m using. No complaints on my end.
