Ok so I have a Venturous topper and am trying to find options for mounting my traction boards and roto pax cans externally. I have a tent and awning as well. Wondering if an aftermarket molle panel over the window would work on the side, but concerned that it would flex in the middle too much. Any ideas? Is there a tailgate option or do I just put panels inside the bed walls and deal with it? Trying to keep them external as I have locks for them already. thanks in advance for your help.

Maybe a half roof rack on the front? Depending on how big your tent is.
There’s always this option. I had them on my JK. You don’t need the tray for rotopax

First off, I like your setup. I really want to get that Venturous cap for mine. I submitted a request for a quote but they never got back to me.

My plan was to get the bed MOLLE panels once I get the top. I was going to mount all of my accessories in there. I also thought about getting a rack to mount on the top of my hard top. This could hold a few accessories, too.

Thanks, I waited patiently for a used one locally and grabbed this one for a smoking good deal. Unfortunately it did not come with options like the opening windows. The Venturous Molle panels are like $360 per, so that's a no go. I may end up just having to mount them inside the bed if I choose that or the tray option in front of the doors. BTW, Venturuous is awful at communicating and defers to local distributors who have no answers and rarely respond. I get it. It's frustrating.

That doesn’t overload the door hinges? That’s always been a concern when I see those.
They’re not on the door. They bolt to the pinch weld behind the rock sliders and to the side of the fender. The passenger side has a cutout for the antenna.

I have a cap and have high tie downs on front and have my traction boards in a cover against front of truck rachet strapped from bottom across to opposite side top against front , would have no problem putting a four gallon rotopax with traction boards there if I needed to carry that much gas. I don't use my traction boards enough that hey have to be mounted outside and why just have the UV killing them if they take up minimal room against front wall.....Jack

Now Jack, how are you going to rack up the “cool” points if you don’t have your traction boards on display on the freeway every day??!! :bandit:

All my gear is hidden too. Traction boards up front.
Out of sight, out of mind.

I’ve use the SeaSucker suction cup Rotopax mounts (3 gal Rotopax) on my SmartCap !
I’ve gone probably 30,00O miles with them on while overlanding and never a failure!
The only negative issue is security but I’ve never had any stolen in all my travels!

Are those side loaded or on top? I’d only be taking that kind of stuff for off-road type travel so that may work for me. Have no reason to have it on if just driving kids to school.
