Plan on swapping tops this weekend with a member of the forum. Is there anything specific I should be aware of during this process? Needed equipment to be moved over etc? I believe going to hard top it’s pretty easy as most channels from the soft top get removed and added to the new jeep where as the hard top is just mainly install and bolt down + connect wiper and defroster.

Anything specific on the hardtop I should check for such as leaks etc?

Good news is, you don't have to worry about the wiper ;)

As far as the defrost, from what I've seen in other threads you will be missing the defrost harness unless your JT had a hard top or dual top option at ordering. Someone else could confirm...

Won’t know about leaks till it rains lol. I’d just make sure the seals look good to the eye. It literally just screws down. Plug in the rear defrost and enjoy. I love my hard top. Never had a soft top but where I live it seems like it would give me some trouble with snow and ice. My truck is an outside truck.. and as far as the defrost harness idk if it’s on all models or not. Mine was hardtop from day one

The huge storm we had the other day of ice in NY. When I was pushing up on the soft top you would hear "crunch crunch crunch" from the ice breaking. Idk, super ASMR pleasing for some reason. As far as the top, really held up better then I thought. Miles ahead of my JK top. Those zippers, will haunt me forever.

You'll need the center brackets for the freedom tops (4 total, 2 front, 2 back) The front are a PITA to get off and put back on just FYI

I'll have to check and see if I have one of those... I only have the premium soft top.

Good to know! Is it switched from the heated mirror button?

Am I able to remove these off the jeep with the hard top? If so are there specific tools not included I'd need to be aware of?
You will need to get those brackets from the jeep with the hard top assuming they will give them to you. They are a bit of a pain to get off. When I sold my hard top it took me I think like 30 minutes or so to get them off and give them to the guy who bought mine. I kind of wanted to keep them on as I didn't realize how much they cost. But I ended up being a nice guy (LOL).

YEs, There's a Youtube video out there somehwere that show show to install them (so reverse for removal). The rear brackets are easy but the front require removing the upper windheield trim inside and its a pain. Only tool is whatever socket fits it (10mm or 13mm I believe)
