Some Steely Dan, Supertramp, Van Halen, Joe Cocker, Triumph, Billy Squier, Steve Wonder, Spinners, Whispers, Donald Byrd, Macy Gray, Eric Roberson, Cars..
I'm all over the place.
I grew up with a very Eclectic Taste of music.
Primarily though,,
A lot of Jazz, both straight ahead and contemporary, Classic 70' Soft Rock, 70'-90' R&B, and Classic Rock.

It all depends on the traffic flow.

But when I'm out driving to unwind, or re-energize for the next day or week.
It's definitely Stevie Wonder- "uptight,"
Steely Dan,- "The Fez, Gaucho, Dr. Wu, Black Cow, Caves of Altamira, Do it again";
And Triumphs,
"fight the good fight"

...For the last few months though…I’ve been on some Tom MacDonald sounds. 92% of his catalog is good stuff (and sounds good in my Gladiator). This guy is speaking his truth and I can appreciate it:
He does speak the truth. And he has a lot of haters for it.

When going somewhere and our kids are with us, they are now college students with busy schedules, we listen to their humongous play list of all kind of music. I’m surprised by their knowledge of music and their taste for 70 to modern music. I also listen to my favorite AC/DC, Van Halen, 90’s and of course my salsa.

I grew up listening to whatever my oldest brother was playing in his car when he drove me around. Mainly classic rock. I remember chasing 8-tracks tapes around in his floorboard while he was driving. I think I was the only kid in my elementary school that knew all the words to Fat Bottom Girls.

Rarely (basically never) listen to music when driving. Done plenty of long drives from SF to Vegas and Los Angeles and Oregon... nothing.

Kind of funny how we can wrap up a lot of previous experiences with music. I'm recycling open air playlists from my now sold Miata in the Gladiator, and enjoying quite a bit, though I'm filtering out some of the more ... aggressive driving songs, the JT ain't a sports car, and some songs just make me drive in "sports car mode."

Most of my playlists are super eclectic, and I try to mix in songs that "take me back" to a point in time very intensely, as well as some newer things that I've discovered. Most recently played in the JT:

  • The Who - Eminence Front
  • Drivin' N' Cryin' - Honeysuckle Blue
  • The Police - King of Pain
  • Dierks Bentley - Free and Easy (Down the Road I go)
  • Dion - Runaround Sue
  • Phil Collins - Take Me Home
  • Zac Brown Band - As She's Walking Away
  • Def Leppard - Hysteria
  • Chris Stapleton - Joy of My Life
  • Van Morrison - Into the Mystic
  • Van Halen - Jump
  • Jimmy Buffett - In the Shelter
  • Neil Diamond - Holly Holy
  • Skynyrd - Things Goin' On
  • Sinatra - Summer Wind
  • Tesla - What You Give

Steve Winwood, Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan, Motley Crue, Van Halen, Steve Miller, Robert Palmer, Dire Straits...
A lot of overlap there with some of my stuff - especially the last 3, Steely Dan and some Fleetwood Mac (for some reason I prefer their earlier stuff)

I also think that for quite a few Jeep owners (tongue in cheek here, ok) this song is appropriate -
