People Work?
I wish mine would disable on its own. I've been getting better at disabling it, but every once in awhile I forget and get extremely annoyed. I know there are work arounds, but I'd prefer to have a toggle switch or have it work like my BMW in once you disable it, it stays disabled. If there is something recently added/updated from Jeep, please let me know so I can go through my settings.

It won't activate if AC/heat is on from what I experienced. I thought I read a while back that someone didn't have the auto start/stop module installed at the factory.
That explains it. I still hit the button anyway. I make sure it's off when I'm wheeling.

There is an over abundance of threads on the ESS and the dual battery setup... all your answers and questions you never thought to ask can be found.

If you want a simple solution that does not affect any other system to turn off your ESS and still allows your SGW to work properly... check this out:

So, I picked up my Sport S on Friday. I have put around 250 miles on it. The auto start/stop has not functioned one time. There are no lights triggered and everything else is functioning 100%. As of right now, I am considering it a bonus Easter egg. My dad suggested hitting the button that would turn it off and see what happens. I'm going to wait it out. I don't want to make it suddenly start working. Anyone else have this happening?
There are a half dozen threads on this........did you use the up/down buttons on the wheel to display the auto stop/start status?

Hitting that button will do nothing if it's not working now.

Only if it's not caught up with the temperature you set. Mine works once it reaches the temperature I have selected either for heat or AC.

Having AC on in itself doesn't disable the ESS.
ONLY if it's not reached your desired temperature will it have any impact.
I run my HVAC in auto mode almost all the time........ if he uses the buttons (reads the book!) and displays the ESS status, it will tell him if it's not stopping due to CABIN TEMPERATURE heating/cooling.

The other solution that is free but apparently people have gotten lazy is pushing the button.
Press brake, press button to start engine, but can't press another button on the dash right after it starts......

Have you tried wearing your seatbelt? The system won’t engage if it’s not coupled. I had to figure this out by reading the owners manual because mine hadn’t engaged in quite a while and I was trying to troubleshoot it. I have a bad habit of not wearing mine from a previous profession.

lol.. true... but I posted for the several that mentioned forgetting or getting tired of... like anything else, you pay for convenience.

There are also a couple other free cures to, but they involve more than pushing a button.

Charge the vehicle overnight with slow charger. Most gladiators sat at least 60 days from built to delivery.

I usually just turn it off each time on start-up anyway.
It’s been so hot where I live mine hasn’t even kicked on yet with AC running

True, but it shouldn’t deactivate each time, should only have to press the button once and it stay off until it’s pressed again to turn back on.

EPA requirements for the FCA implementation of ESS are that it defaults to on each time the vehicle is started and there is only a temporary disable option.
