Love my 2020 Mojave. Has 15k miles, 2 years old.

It has been in 3 times now

1)got the TSB steering box fitted, my choice.

2) discovered the front steering brace was very lose, according to the tech one bolt was finger right! I suspect this was when I got stuck in snow and was pulled out. My fault

3) now the cel came on and they said they've been told to replace Cam shaft for any vehicle with previous flash which I had

Fortunately all of the work is under warranty.

I realize 1+ likely 2 were not really vehicle faults but

1) is this normal
2) I'm worried about cost for this type of work post 3 year warranty

wonder if it's worth extended warranty ?

or trade in for a new version albeit I've added some stuff to mine so not sure I want to do that and would cost most $ which is not an option right now.

anyone have similar experiences or thoughts on this ?

Thanks Steve

Check the KBB before you rule out trading up. The market is insane and used cars have been selling for more than new cars lately. You might be surprised what you can get for it. I sold my Tacoma to an auto trader a couple months ago for $7k more than I bought it for new.

Haven't values been hit hard by high gas prices??

?‍♂ Donno. Worth checking though before ruling it out. I just sold my Tacoma 2-3 months ago.

After two years, and 43k miles, mines been in for the steering box, oil pan gasket, cam shaft gasket, moisture in tail lights, and a new drive shaft that wasn't completely attached after the work on the rear engine seal. I also have a third party extended warranty that was purchased with the vehicle. I like what I've done with mine and doesn't have the quirks like newer models do.
In short, do you like what you have? Then buy an extended warranty for piece of mind.

So only one non self-induced issue in two years of ownership? I’d consider just keeping what you’ve got and getting an extended warranty.

For context…I’ve also had new Subaru’s, Ram, and VW’s. No major issues, but each of those had AT LEAST one warranty repair in the first couple years.

If you are going to keep it long term Get the waranty and I tell you this independent of your posted issues. It is very reasonably priced (MOPAR's), one big repair and it will pay for itself. Many different time frams and mile combos to choose from...And if you don't use it at all (not likely :)) Mopar gives you all your $$$ back at the end of the term.

Trade in values are starting to cool on used JT's. That ride is slowing because of more new stock showing on the lots, repo rates are up and the overpriced used JT's on the lots are slower moving now.

6 months ago, I would say KBB would be spot on values to expect, now not so much. I say this from two reference points of trading in my 2020 JT little over a year ago and now recently within the past month of my selling 2021 JT.

People Work?
I've had some issues and forum posts keep me aware of what to watch out for. My plan is to keep playing this game as long as we're under warranty and then decide whether to trade or to buy an extended warranty and keep driving.

If you haven't made many mods the decision is somewhat easier. Dealers don't care about your mods, and I get that, because everyone has different tastes and what appealed to you might turn off the next prospect.

Mods can help sell in the public sell it yourself market, so if you have done things like lift, tires, racks, etc. then selling it yourself might get you the most payback.

As far as the engine work goes you probably now have a better setup than most of us who still have the factory original. Still, a close check on your oil by getting an analysis done on at least the next two changes would help you to stay aware of what's going on in there.

You might also consider how much money you'd lose in a trade and think about investing that into taking the vehicle to a good third party mechanic who'll know and do more for you than the by the book ones at the dealership.

Are you saying with the Mopar warranty you get back the cost of the warranty at the end of the warranty period if you do not use it?

Yes Sir, it is in the contract...Just make sure if you go with it that it is (still) being offered as such as an additional incentive.

Really helpful, thanks everyone.

Compared to other non vehicle forums I'm on this site is so useful and helpful.

hard to find people to get a pov on this stuff.
Think I will go down route of extended warranty, the price went up as I'm post 12k miles but would likely go for 7 year and keep the vehicle.

thanks all

YW, there was a similiar question on the NJ Jeep Club forum last week...The poster thought the MOPAR ext-warrenty might be a scam...Unfortunatly, these rumors get started on the internet I suppose.
