The oem filter is a single piece.
On the diesel. It's a 2 piece charcoal filter. On the 3.6. It's a 1 piece non charcoal filter. And it's cheaper.

Installed air bags under it.

I plan on changing my cabin air filter out tomorrow, so this post was quite handy. Well, handy in the sense that it made me say "WHAT ?!?!?! TWO FILTERS ?!?! WHY ?!?!". I've only replaced the one. Further reading I learned that the 3.6 only has one filter. Whew !!

I was in a panic, because I bought my Jeep used and the dealer promised me the air and cabin filters have been replaced. I said, "Huh, yeah right" and gave him a smirk. He repeated himself. The very next day after I drove it home, I checked. Yep, engine filter brand spanking new. Pulled the cabin, it looks every bit of original from the factory. Beyond nasty. I contemplated going back to show him, but it wasn't worth the 50 minute ride each way. Snap a pic and email him ? Why does he care, he already has my signature on the paperwork.
