Narrowed down to 3 tire choices. Which?

285/75/17 tires going on Fifteen52 Turbomac HD classics.

These are the 3 I've narrowed it down to. They are all "similar" in price($345 to $388 price spread) and size (33.8 to 34.1")

Use will be mostly onroad, some camping, occasional overlanding, light crawling/parks etc.

The finalists are:

Toyo Open Country R/T Trail (E1, $362)
Falken Wildpeak R/T01 (E1, $388)
Nitto Ridge Grappler (C1, $343)

Any input and experience with these is appreciated, what to avoid if anything, etc.

Not to ruin your choices but if you live in Wisconsin and see regular snow I'd personally go with none of those. They all only have one sip on each tread so your water and snow handling especially will be greatly diminished.

Consider the AT variant of the Falken or Toyo. I run both on different vehicles and the Toyo will absolutely eat the snow and puddles. Falken is also a mainstay and offroad I've had no issues thus far.

Dont put E rated tires on.
Ridge grapplers are terrible in bad weather.

Based on where you live id look at C rated toyo at3 or falken at/4 both are plenty for your off road needs, longer lasting and quiet and carry 3 peak ratings

Year round in Wisconsin?!? None of those would be my choice. Southeast Michigan here and travel all over Wisconsin all the time (car hauling truck driver). To all of the General Motors dealerships.

Most importantly… all-terrain tires!
As narrow as you are willing to accept too. Generally speaking… (wide tire types will dislike this, but I do not care nor will I engage with those and their rebuttals). You do not want wide(r) tires. No, 285 are not all that/or too wide. Those would be absolute max width for me, but nah.

I have had the Toyo A/Ts 285/75R17, but on a decently decked out Toyota Tundra Crewmax with HD steel bumpers, winch, sliders, etc. Heavy truck. They were OK. Actually, did not really care for them on an end of January road trip to Victor, Montana (straight south of Missoula).

The narrow Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T 255/85R17 are 100% the best tire choice I have ever made. They absolutely crush on-road snow covered conditions. The only better tires are likely winter specific. I will never opt for anything but these tires for winter weather and would/will absolutely run them year round.
One can avoid the too “tucked-in” tire look with +25 offset wheels or for some poke, 0 offset wheels.

Third photo: The only reason I have the Kenda Klever R/T (point being R/T) 35x10.5x17 as my warm weather rollers, is because the Mickeys were on backorder at the time and I am impatient AF. I would not even consider an R/T during the winter.

I would sell said Kendas (6 - two have 0 miles on them) for another set of the Mickeys and would push down my grandma to get to the last set on a rack!

From personal experience those aren't the greatest in snow or ice. And I've noticed your up north. If your dead set the Wildpeaks will be your best bet. I had Ridgegrapplers in FL and they couldn't even handle the rain. Toyo's tend to be hit or miss, some are absolutely fantastic and some I don't even know how they got approved for market. we ran a set of AT3 open country on a GX and that poor bastard couldn't get traction for shit on anything. every time we got off the highway it was like watching a fawn try to stand on ice. We moved him to 315 wildpeak ATs and they are very good. The only RT tire I have run and liked are the Kenda Klever RTs, but they need to be studded to handle ice, which they allow. personally I would stay with the A/T segment unless your going to regularly see mud and rock of the technical nature.

I was deciding between those exact same tires. I ended up going with Toyo AT3's instead. Like you, i wanted a tire that can do everything. Trails, good in all weather and a strong daily driver. I am very happy with my decision. I went on trails last weekend with them and had zero issues. I went 35/11.5/17

Appreciate the responses, a while back I was interested in the Baja Boss in 255/85 but don’t want a tucked in look, and I don’t really know what they would like with the wheels I bought which are a 0 offset.

I’ve axed the Nitto based on the replies here and will also look at the A/T variants of the tires I’ve chosen.

That’s my understanding based on my emails with the guy at fifteen52. Slight amount of poke which is what I’m after, just not a lot.

Another vote here for the mickey Thompsons baja boss at. Couldn't have asked for any better during snow, rain and dry conditions here in KY. Looks ride and performance all on point.

yeah but those guys and most wheel places still run on old Jeep standards. They don't realize that there are trim levels with widetrack axles that have a whole .75 of an inch to acount for on each side. 0 works great for other glady's, JKs, and most JLs. for us widetrack guys, its pretty aggressive.

I’ve looked at a number of JT setups with the same wheel and they don’t look too obnoxious so I think I’ll be ok.

I get that for sure. That is why I bought 1.5” wheel spacers for the Mickeys, but being on Mojave wheels (37 offset), they ended up not being so tucked in without the spacers. Not as much as I was thinking and being winter dedicated, figured keeping them tight would be a good thing.

I will absolutely roll the 255 Mickeys on the 8.5” wide 0 offset Method wheels and may not wait to wear out or even sell the Kendas.

First picture are the 255 Mickeys on 37 offset Mojave wheels with 1.5” spacers and on a 2” AEV lifted vehicle. I do not know what offset wheel minus spacers math/equivalent would be.

The second & third picture are the 255 Mickeys on Mojave wheels and no wheel spacers.

The forth picture is the Kenda 10.5” wide tires on said 8.5” wide and 0 offset wheels. No wheel spacers. Also 2” AEV lifted.

Needless to say…
255 Mickeys on 37 offset 7.5” wide wheels and 1.5” spacers are damn near identical to 10.5” wide Kendas on 0 offset 8.5” wide wheels and no spacers.

Just to give you an idea.
