Hey fellas, I have basically a 2nd grade education regarding electronics. I have a '23 Mojave, the only mods I'm doing right now are 35's, CAI and Pedal Monster, I read tuners are not available yet? Anyway, do I need a programmer? I know they will calibrate the speedometer, but is there any other real advantage? Will a programmer calibrate shift points for larger tires, etc?

With a programmer you can't actually change the shift points but you can force a relearn on the transmission. This sets it back to day 1 and then the transmission can relearn your driving patterns. This will reprogram the transmission for your gears, tires and driving style to optimize performance.

JScan and AlfaOBD offer a lot more. They can change settings that You would have to go to the dealer for, they can read diagnostic codes, they can capture live diagnostic data, set LED or non LED lights and more.

Which would you recommend? Like I said, I'm not real sharp on any of that stuff, so I probably wouldn't be using alot of it, except for probably the scanner.

Either are fine. Both were created by former Chrysler engineers. JScan needs a license per VIN for full operation ($23). Alfa OBD is one license for multiple VINs ($49). If the Gladiator is the only vehicle you will use it on, get JScan and the recommended Bluetooth dongle, the correct OBD bypass cable and I highly recommend a Security Gateway extension cable. It you have multiple Jeeps, get AlfaOBD and all the other stuff that JScan needed.
