So I came across a 2018 wreaked 2500 power wagon I acquired for the 6.4 swap. My original thought was to part the truck out and get the motor for free. But, I was thinking, would the AAM 9.25 front axle, AAM 11.5 rear axle work in the gladiator or should I just sell and do a 60/80 combo. Would it be cost advantageous? I like how it has sway bar disconnects and lockers already and maybe coming from mopar all the sensors/abs would cooperate better. I am comfortable doing the motor swap but more than likely have to hire out the axle project. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

The front axle needs Carli ball joints from the get go. They're bad from the start. Does the front axle have a FAD on it? If so, it needs welded around where the tubes fit in. The lockers use the same 4 wires as the Rubicon. Power in, ground and 2 sensor wires. But the plug may be different. The locker set-up is different then what's in a Rubicon. The axles have 4.10 gears with the 6.4 motor. If it was a Gen3 with the 5.7 motor. It would have 4.56 gears and the 10.5 AAM rear axle. To go with lower gears. You can get 5.13's. But the rear is a bit strange. Guys had to use a gear set for a Chevy 11.5 AAM axle.

Good info here, if anyone is on.

Thanks! It’s a 2018 so has 4.10 gears. Nice to know the lockers use the same wires…I might be able to use the same plug?! Since they are on hand I thought I would ask. I could always just sell them and make enough money for a front axle. Between the cab/interior/bed and transfer case it should pay for the motor and tranny.

The 9.5 front axle is between a D60 and D70 in strength. The 11.5 rear axle is D80 strength. I've thought about using PW axles instead of the usual Dana axle swaps. Be a little more work. I would use the Gen3 front axle without the FAD and with 4,56 gears. And use the 10.5 rear axle with the 4.56 gears. It's between the D60 and D70 in strength.

I went down this road years ago with a 2015 JK wrangler. Couldn’t get any decent shafts or gears for it and they were absurdly heavy.

Not that I'm recommending building a C9.25F but they do have RCVs for them. The 11.5 is bulletproof and durable far beyond a D80 too.

I'd probably sell that stuff and buy a 60/80 bolt in combo. Hard to say what the future supply of Dynatrac will be since their buyout.

I couldn't kill the axles on my PW. I've tried. I installed the RCV axles along with the Dynatrac freespin hub kit.

Ya, I've had AAM11.5's in the shop with 650k miles on then just need bearings. I couldn't bust mine with over 500hp and 22.5s under a 10klb truck that towed 25k.

I had the 10.5 diff. It uses the same 11.5 axle shafts. The weak spot with the AAM axles is the plug welds for the axle tubes. They been known not to have enough weld penetration between the tubes and housing.
