Most issues don't start happening to most people. Reading the forums is like reading WebMD, if you don't come with the correct mindset you'll leave thinking you have lupus.
Yes, Tigger drives his jeep, while Eeyore gets hung up on these threads.

I don't know where you got this info but it's definitely not the tranny in my JT Rubicon LE.
You don't have the ZF8 speed auto? You have a manual transmission?

The ZF8 speed is a simply amazing transmission. Any issues that you guys are having will eventually be addressed with software updates. The ZF8 speed has been solid for many years now. the ZF 9 speed for FWD based applications had some issues for a while, IDK if they've been addressed yet or not...

I stand corrected with regard to the tranny in my Gladiator. The outside appearance of mine did not look like the one pictured but it is in fact a ZF850RE and has very good ratings. It is also used in the JL.

UPDATE... FCA has decided after my Jeep being in the shop 84 out of 121 days for the same issue they are going to buy it back from me. Now to see what the offer is.
Normally they do an MSRP swap. If you pick a vehicle with a higher MSRP than what you currently have they'll charge you the difference. Conversely if you pick one with a lower MSRP they'll refund the difference. I think that they pay to swap accessories also.

Hello all,

I'm going to tell you a little about my experience so far with the jeep wave program and Chrysler on a macro level. (The Reason) The W12 recall can result in the vehicle catching fire or cracking the transmission case, which can lead to your bell housing exploding underneath your feet, both are obviously not good outcomes. I bought a 2020 Jeep Gladiator with the Manual transmission (only affected vehicles at this time) and the truck starting smoking on me after a 100 mile trip. Luckily I was able to pull over and let the vehicle air out for 20 min to prevent it from catching fire. I know for a fact if I continued the jeep would have caught fire! The truck still emits that horrible burnt clutch smell to this day. After talking with FCA Jeep Wave bounced my case around to different departments for a week before my buy back claim was denied because in Iowa the lemon law states that they have to try to fix it once before you can have a case. So what does Jeep do? They replace the same (defective) part that Chrysler cheaply engineered and installed it back in my vehicle........makes total sense. So here I am sitting on a literal ticking time bomb because they have no solution and the failure has only resulted in someone being injured, and said injury did not result in a fatality, makes me feel a lot better about the situation at hand - hopefully by now you can sense my sarcasm. I do not recommend Jeep or Chrysler as it is apparent that they do not care about their customers. I am usually an optimistic person, but at the moment I would have to say (when) instead of if, this happens again my lawyer will be involved. I know this is happening to other people as well, around 37 thousand vehicles, I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up in a class action lawsuit.

Your apprehension is valid, but it is likely that the entire clutch and pressure plate will be replaced considering that the heat is likely a result of extreme friction, and thus wear.

Fix Problems
I hate that I even need to type this. 5,000 miles on the brand-new Rubicon JT and here are all the problems I have.

Transmission: I honestly have never driven such a bad shifting tranny. Most notably when coming to a stop or cruising around 19mph. The jeep down shifts extremely harsh, to a point where it jerks you forward. From 2nd to 1st it feels like it holds on too long then drops into 1st, clunks, and then surges forward. This makes it almost impossible to come to a stop smoothly. The rough shifting gets better as the jeep warms up but is always noticeable. It feels like both a programming and mechanical issue. Thoughts?

Start-up: Each time I start it up it sounds different. Sometimes it sounds normal other times it sounds harsh. At times it sounds like a bracket is lose and rattles. Very odd behavior for a brand new truck.

Steering: Not going to touch too much on this as there already enough threads on it but I do have a 2-3” dead zone in the wheel and it wanders a bit. At highway speeds it oddly seems better, less input, than going around 30mph.

Center console screen: The screen randomly will change brightness. Sometimes it will not let me manually change the brightness with the scroll. I’ve also noticed that when I turn my wipers on it will change the brightness to brightest.

Heater/AC: Like many others mine blows hot air until the engine warms up.

I love this truck but very disappointed with FCA.

I too have similar issues with my 2021 Gladiator, when coming to a stop the transmission seems to lurched forward or speed up while downshifting (Auto Trans). 1800 miles on it..
Its going back to the dealership for that issue, and there's an area on the driver side seat that is coming apart at the seem, looks like defected stitching. 3rd Jeep for me.....

Seems like I must be pretty lucky. I bought my Launch Addition Rubicon in August of 19 and have put 14k miles on it without a single problem other than a leak of the tranny pan which, of course, was fixed under warranty. With all the problems I'm hearing from others on the forum I guess I can expect anything at any time.
