Ugh, that's not good.
Imo… if you came here to find thoughts your going to run into a lot of them… honestly… a repair dept isn’t gonna be able to turn a engine repair around in a day let alone three unless they are superstars.
I had to drop off my sons Subaru off because of minor engine work… it turned out to be two oil sensors and a rewrite of a broken plug… it took 4 days to get the diagnostic, parts and repair.

honestly it’s up to you.

If you’ll make $$, seems a no brainer. Buy another at below invoice and carry on.

Seems the cams and engine ticks are popping up more on the 3.6l.

(Bearing in mind that Internet forums seem to draw people with issues making it seems like something is a huge problem)
Are people still buying below invoice? I got an amazing deal when I bought it, but I've seen people pay over MSRP just to get into hybrids lately (not sure about gas only?).

There are a few dealers that are CE dirs on this site that will.
My local dealer will.

Had a list of seemingly trivial issues so I scheduled service and dropped it off yesterday. Talked to the service dept today, they said there’s something wrong with a cam in the engine and they have to take the entire engine apart to diagnose and fix it. The thing is 2 years old and I have had the dealership maintain it perfectly. I’m irritated, but now I’m also without a vehicle, and the dealership does not do loaners. Can I call Jeep and get them to give me a loaner? I have no idea how long it will take to repair, but at least another 4-5 days. It’s on the dealership’s hot list and they’ll give me $44k for it (paid $43k). Is it worth keeping? Should I trust this vehicle any longer?
No way, why keep it?

I own it outright. Don’t really want a car payment now though. Do you think it will be as good as new when it’s fixed and worth keeping?
Sure. Plenty of cars get engines rebuilt and keep working for years. That’s why it’s just a matter of emotions as much as economics.

Up to you - but they don't have to take the whole engine apart for a cam issue. They can pull the right valve cover and look......... the cams are on TOP of the heads. They don't even have to pull the heads!

Seems like throwing the baby out with the bath water for a repair that can be made and be done with it, but it's your baby, your choice.

If something needs repaired do you immediately dump it and get another?
It misfired at low speeds and the auto stop/start and cruise control both randomly stop working.
ALL of that stuff is due to one issue - the cam issue causing the misfires. Cruise and ESS (start/stop) won't work if there are any detected issues. So you don't have a lot of little things broken, you have one thing that prevents the rest from working. If the cam issue was fixed, the other stuff would most likely work.

And do watch the nay-sayers as far as "the sky is falling" and "it's going to take FOREVER".
Granted, there are supply chain issues now, but it's a hit and miss thing. They could have you going in 2 or 3 weeks, could be longer - over a month, could be less. Who knows?
But everyone is going to say it will be months. There's no way to know.

Seems like a lot of knee-jerk reactions? ? perhaps??

Bought my 2020 Jeep JR in August 2020 and have not had a single issue with it. Not one.

The dealership said they have to take the engine apart.
My list of complaints was far longer than what I wrote. Visor arm broke, apple car play makes the screen glitch, when i unlock the driver side door by holding the key fob and pulling on the door handle and then push the unlock button on the drivers door, the other locks sound like they unlock but they do not unlock. Sirius xm favorites do not work. Yes, it seems trivial but I paid a lot of money for this vehicle, more than I have ever paid. I wanted a jeep+truck years before it was even an option. I have never had so many problems with a vehicle, new or used. It makes me not trust this brand anymore.

so say I stick it out. What’s to say another cam won’t go out next month? Seems to be an issue with this engine.
