Just had my new wheels and tires installed, doing a walk around when picking the jeep up I discovered tool marks on the foe bolts and some cracked powder coating. The wheels were sealed in boxes when I dropped them off. I spent a small fortune getting them mounted, is it worth filing a warranty claim for the wheels?

Me personally: I wouldn’t even bother.

I might touch up the faux lugs with some FLAT BLACK or similar finish….but I just couldn’t be bothered with “damage” of that magnitude. You’ll have way worse than that after the first few times those wheels see the dirt.

I maybe tempted to take it there and see if they will give you a voucher for a free alignment or wheel balancing. Bet they would.

I just went through this same thought process with my new wheels on the JL. Have a few scuffs right inside the lug nut recesses. Contemplated going to complain until I checked the torque and saw how tight the clearance was. That and I plan to have rock rash on them at some point.

If 4 wheeling is in your future. I wouldn't bother. I trashed a week old set of CenterLine rotary forge rims once. Still have them.

I’m not overly concerned, it’s a jeep and is going to get used as a jeep. I’m thinking these damages might have been from the manufacturer. I did talk to the manager he assured me they wouldn’t have tried to tighten these. Didn’t want to come off as petty but if they offered me a discount I wouldn’t be offended lol

when you put the sort of torque required on wheel bolts or nuts onto a finish - expect imperfections, even chips. It's hard to not cause some damage with a socket and torque wrench when torqueing wheels on. If the nuts are painted or powder coated - and it looks like they are, then chips are expected - at least by me. This is one reason guys like me carry bottles of touch-up paint and artist brushes to car shows to touch up any nuts and bolts that have been turned putting the car together or getting it ready.

Unfortunately, most wheel manufacturers won't warranty cosmetic issues once tires are mounted.

When I bought my Dirty Life wheels I opened them at the store I bought them and had them shipped to. Showed two wheels were blemished (1 badly, looked like it had been dropped on a hard edge) and I refused to accept those two. I had replacements 3 days later and did the same thing and they were fine.

You can try, but it's probably somewhere in their small print.
