Noise identification help

Ok JT Forum sleuths, help me out please. 2023 JTR gasser, 3100 miles. About 500 miles on Clayton Overland Plus 2.5” with Falcon sp 2.2 adjustable shocks. Yokohama g003 in 37’s. Stock steering components. I understand that Jeeps are not as quiet as a BMW but want to know if this sound is a “Jeep thing”. First Jeep so learning as I go with help from all of you. I confirmed all nuts are still tighten to spec and double confirmed the pitman arm, drag link, tie rod components. Drives straight and I cannot reproduce with bouncing on front bumper. Only happens with braking really.

It's a squeak.











Too many possibilities. Could be a spring perch not quite right, could be any one of the joints with bushings, could be track bar rubbing on axle end box out.

I understand the list of possibilities is big, hoping someone maybe experienced the same and fingered it out. Mostly concerned about whether it’s a potential failure concern or just a “squeak”. I can always just turn the stereo up louder if it’s just a noise

My Synergy track bar squeaked like that after install. Where it tapered from the bushing end to the bar rubbed on the box out on the axle. After awhile it stopped.

After a little bit of time, you should be able to see where the rub is, will be a clean, shiny spot.

On the rear springs. Did you remove the rubber thingy that is wrapped around the coils on the springs and place it on the new springs?

I did but I replaced it with an aftermarket one from Metalcloak

To maybe find where the noise is coming from you could try using something like WD40 and spraying where you think the source of the noise is coming from. Only do one location at a time, starting with what you think is the most likely source and checking to see if it eliminates the noise. If it doesn’t eliminate it, repeat at the next possible source. This may or may not work, but might be worth a try.

I typically use water or water with just a touch of Dawn dish soap in it to track down the source of 'rubbery' sounding squeaks.

When mine starts doing that, I take it out and flex the piss out of it and it stops.
