Hello JT owners. I am trying to find a solution for a rattling noise that is coming from my JT 2022 automatic overland. 5k miles on it. I am getting a noise from the passenger side engine cabin. The noise starts around 10 mph and will run through 35 to 40 mph. The engine is warm and will fade away after 20 to 30 mins. Will pop up when on the highway when towing a small utility trailer. The dealership had the JT for several days and could not find a solution. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar noise come up and a possible solution?

Hard to hear over the road noise. Might need to place a camera in the engine bay.

Knowing the RPM range might help, too. MPH is almost meaningless because the engine could be at any range of RPMs at a given road speed in mph.

There are also numerous threads on rattles and noises on these, might pay to do a search and see if there's a comparable sound already talked about.
Honestly, diagnosing a sound over the internet using recordings made on a phone and then uploaded, then downloaded and listened to on some other device - it's really tricky as that sound will literally change for each person that listens, depending on the device they listen on.
But - it's worth a try, I guess. Just please don't expect "I know exactly what that is" because no one really will - you'll just get "ideas" to check out.

A rattle can be a shield, a pipe or tube, something with suspension or steering, even an engine sound like a rocker arm or a ping.

On the manual transmission versions it appears to even be something with the clutch pedal and/or linkage. Some have found heat shields that rattle, others have found something hitting a pipe.
One thing you can do - with things cooled off and safe - crawl under and start tapping and shaking things with your hands, even under the hood. Start with simple stuff.

And do try to track the RPM, how the engine might be loaded - up a hill, down a hill, low MPH with high RPM or the opposite and so on.
Clues......

Thanks, I completely agree and understand. Just throwing it out to the forum to see if someone has come across. I have low expectations to have someome say, here is the answer to your problem. The noise is at low rpm around 3 and 4th gear. The noise will show up in either flat or incline elevations. The exhaust was checked also throughout the dealership service. I have read several forum posts before posting my own thread today.
I am going to mount my gopro under the hood this weekend.
Thank you for the feedback.

If the rattle follows the RPMs it could be a bad cam. With your windows down, so you can hear better, park somewhere where you have a structure beside you (for the noise to reverberate). Have it in park start slowing raising the RPM's. If the noise starts coming up with the increase in RPM's and faids out with the decrease I would lean toward a cam lobe going flat. Also, if it is a bad cam iver time the noise will continue to get worse.
