I'll start by saying that I've been a Jeep enthusiast for more than half of my life now. My first car in high school was a '94 ZJ that I drove for a few years, and about 10 years later I bought a '96 ZJ and basically drove the wheels off of that thing. Loved both of them - they had their quirks and of course had some issues being 10-20 years old, but overall they were pretty solid.
When the JT finally came out, I was stoked. I wanted one from the start, but it took a while to actually work up the guts to plunk down such a ridiculous amount of dough on a Jeep (Rubi + diesel + lots of options).
I finally ordered one this May and got it at the end of August. The first few weeks were great, but after about 1,300 miles I had a low-pressure fuel pump failure (https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/new-diesel-jt-wont-start.62996/) that I'm still not sure if the actual pump failed or if it was a wiring issue. It's been at the dealer for 12 days now, sounded like the parts were all lined up but they needed to perform the repair.
While the dealer was working on it today, they rolled it into a service bay and damaged one of the fenders and part of the hood with the vehicle lift. It'll require a new fender / fender liner and probably some paint work on the hood.
The dealer seems to know they messed up and my first call with them seems like they want to do right by me, but I'm not really even sure what to ask for. Also not sure if I should just go straight to JeepCares, or if I should try to resolve things with the dealer first.
Other folks with difficult dealer experiences - what has Jeep and/or the dealer done to make up for it? I remember reading some folks pushed for extended warranties, or for Jeep to cover payments while it's in the shop.
I'm not sure if this will be a Carfax report type repair or not, but either way I'm pretty upset that my brand new vehicle has already been substantially damaged....by the dealer....while it was there because it failed at 3 weeks / 1,300 miles.
I don't really want to involve JeepCares (so I won't @ them) until I feel like I know what the best way to proceed is.
