Called two local dealerships. One flat-out refused since I didnt purchase the car there. The second would do the work but wouldn't provide a loaner since I didn't buy from them which makes sense.

Left a message at the purchasing dealership which isn't too far at 40 miles but with NY traffic is a terrible drive so waiting to hear back from them hopefully by the end of the day.
If they are an authorized Jeep dealer then they HAVE to warranty it. It does not matter if you bought it from them or not. Doesnt even have to be in the same state. As for a loaner? A dealer doesn't have to offer you a loaner. Its not mandatory or required. But if I was you, I would get corporate involved. I've done that a few times. Its amazing what dealership can do and how quickly it can be done when corporate is involved.

You are right in everything you said, but do you want somebody to work on your vehicle that has now been forced to?

If corporate is involved? Absolutely I would. If they mess up in the slightest bit, corporate will it know and that will go against the dealership. The only time dealers are honest and do what they are supposed to is when corporate is involved.

Things get muddy if the dealer does not have a body shop. I'm not sure they have to do anything, but the outcomes vary in these situations.

To my understanding, which maybe incorrect. But if they don't have a on-site body shop, they will outsource to a reputable approved local body shop.

Then you get what you get, that is for sure.

Luckily our dealer, and another one even closer, does have.
i don't like this farming out to another shop who is forced to do the work often at rates less than they'd get for insurance work.

they will outsource to a reputable approved local body shop.
Approved by?
Reputable, perhaps - but then they'll be doing warranty work for Jeep very possibly at a rate less than they get for the work they usually do for insurance payments.
Sorry, I'd not want that situation at all.
They'll put their full-paying customers and insurance work first.
Who is there to hold who accountable? Will Jeep be all over the independent shop across town doing it for less money?

They do sometimes. But the closest Jeep dealer to me doesn’t. It’s not a huge issue as I can go to another dealer not much further. But I wish they would outsource it because my friend has a great shop in the same zip as the Jeep dealer without the body shop.

I used this touch up paint on my last Willy's successfully. It's specifically for the hard top
Not a bad price, either. The SEM I use for vinyl and plastic trim for my cars costs almost that much.

Have an appointment next week at the purchasing dealership for them to take pics and pass on to Stellantis to find out whether they can move forward on warranty work.

Gonna have to take off of work and drive about 1.5 hours which sucks but it is what it is.

You apply convertible protectant to your painted black top?
HAHA! No, I quoted the wrong comment. Someone mentioned the BestTop and I was replying to that comment. Sorry for the mixup. I did enjoy the chuckle.

Retard dealers, are your photos not satisfactory to provide to the boss for an obvious yes on the coverage...

I have to wonder - over time, how will the black tops look after being in the sun for a while. Like other black trim? Dunno.
Maybe just fine. I know many have struggled with the cowl piece turning gray.
What's the non-painted top made of?
Does it scuff - and if it does, how do people deal with it? Ignore it?

I've had no problem with the painted tops, and I've tossed mine in the back a few times (and rushed to put them back on during a major massive storm event)

It's all in what people prefer personally.
The black top on my 16 JK looks brand new still and I've done nothing special to keep it looking great. It's still glossy and not oxidized or anything like that. Now the Freedom panels have scratches here and there but that's from bumping around in the back.
