Who doesn’t inspect every square inch of the new vehicle you’ve paying so much money for?
Only because this comment irked me, I want to show you what it is I had to look at the day I took possession + the last 2 weeks of ownership with the constant rain. I challenge you to find the paint defect without magnifying the picture x50, dingus

I found an issue with my roof after purchase, I clearly didn't climb into the bed and inspect the roof lol

The dealership we've been buying from is just blocks from a MAJOR interchange reconstruction project - Hickman Road and I35/80.
They can wash a vehicle in the morning and it looks like crap by afternoon.
So unless it's washed just before you get there, you'd be looking at all sorts of dust, or rubbing the dust to check things out.
Luckily, that's what warranties and such are for - as long as they fix it, no biggy.

Took delivery of my 2025 JT in the middle of a snow storm. Would have missed similar also.

Here’s a picture of mine the day of delivery, two days after a hurricane with high winds and rain. I made the appointment to take delivery, telling them I had to inspect inside and clean please. I went over it with a good set of eyes.

So you always nail it, never miss a thing, and everyone has that opportunity so there's no excuse for anyone else to miss something?

I'm even known nationally as a perfectionist, but I have to admit - there have been things I have missed.

Looks like you are suggesting it's his fault, and he should just accept it and there was no excuse for missing it.

(nice that your dealership has such an open area they can do that, too - ours are pretty crowded, and even have to borrow space from neighbors (in one case, a church) to park overflow and move things around.

Where is the factory pride? Don't they inspect?

Sorry but I have to ask - have you worked in a factory?
Ideally, yes, nothing would ever get missed, but........... having had a father who worked in a factory (UAW member for many years) and who ended up being head inspector, there's a reality.
Frustrating as heck it really is, but sometimes things do get missed. It's people doing the inspecting.

Took a sick day and drove 1.5 hours to the purchasing dealership just to be told by the manager that the girl at the service desk could've requested a photo via email to move the warranty process along...

Regardless, he looked at it and immediately said it's an open and shut warranty case. Took some pics and forwarded them to Stellantis to wait their response which he claims will be a fairly quick 'Proceed.'

In the words of the manager, these color-matched tops get shipped un-painted, and replacing it isn't likely, but he's confident his body shop can correct it via paint (I don't see how but time will tell).

Once he gets the OK from Stellantis the truck will be in their shop's possession for 5 days and a loaner will be provided.

On a side note I asked him about the CEO change and he claims that anyone is better than the previous CEO, and in the 20 years he worked with Jeep, the last 4 with Stellantis have been the worst of his career with the tedious process they imposed to accomplish just about anything.

Was happy to see it was an open and shut case and there wasn't any defensive ploys. Now let's hope they don't f#%k up my paint

And in that day, with your excellent eyes, would you have refused delivery of the vehicle had you found the same paint issue as the OP?

Yes? You have way more free time and much more willingness to interact with a car dealer than me if you want to start the whole purchase process again. Good for you in your quest for a defect free car.

No? So, it’s not “asking for trouble” because you found it at delivery rather than a few day/weeks later?

There is a slight chance it left the factory perfect. Not sure what would cause damage like that afterwards, maybe a confused woodpecker. 😆

Of course not, unless the dealer wasn’t interested in taking the issue seriously and recording when it was found while under THEIR care/possession and responsibility! If they were concerned about remedying the damage/defect at a reasonable time and under conditions satisfactory to me? So there’s no question about when or how it happened!
