Hello all, new to the forum, and new to the Jeep/Mopar platform entirely. I’ll start off with saying I have never owned a car only trucks, my first truck was a Chevy S-10 back in high school and moved to a Silverado, lift wheels 35” tires gears I did all the work myself I really enjoyed it. Recently (90 days ago) I purchased a Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro And ended up trading it in for a my first Jeep! I went with the Gladiator and I am loving it!
I just picked it up last Sunday so far have put 800 something miles on it I am very impressed!
However
I feel I am experiencing so issues “Maybe?”
hopefully someone can help me out here to determine if I am experiencing an issue,
During the 800 miles have have noticed (but have been unable to replicate or repeat the issue)
At low speeds primarily from let’s say 5mph to 35mph i am experiencing a very loud clunk what seems to be coming from the rear Dif or trans I’m not sure, For instance I was in stop and go traffic and my wife was with my in the passenger seat. I sped up from stop and let off the gas my RPM kept me in 2nd or 3rd I’m assuming and as soon as I put my foot back on the gas slowly, it shifted really hard made a loud clunk and I felt the truck jerk as if the trans struggled getting that gear into place. Another time it was really bad was when I was in my neighborhood drove about 3 blocks barely got it up to 30 and when I slowed down to make my right hand turn on the street I heard 3 clunks I felt the truck react to the 3 noises. Anyone have any ideas what this could be?

Shouldn’t be hearing anything I would call the dealer

Crud... will I have problems with the dealership if they can’t replicate the issue?

you may or you May not. If it happens regularly record it on your phone and show it to them...even if it’s just a sound and a video of your speedo.

it is a first model year so problems can and will happen. Make sure you pay attention and get it warranty fixed and enjoy the jeep! All new vehicles have a warranty for a reason, so its par for the course.

First you need to know that it will take the transmission to learn your driving style, it does learn. The other thing in I would recommend is you configure your dash center to show what gear the trans is in, first, second, etc. I knew someone on the forum has gone through the steps if you can find, if not look it up on you tube

This was a lot of help!!!!
I just went through the settings in the screen and found the gear display
I took it for a test drive to try and replicate the problem I found out it’s holding the RPM gears 1-4 the second I let off, then it seems to try and hold the RPM and eventually downshifts causing a clunk, I can’t get it to do it as bad as before but it seems to be the same noise

Sounds like the transmission is trying to be in Manual Mode with the gear hold until the rpm drops. You are in Drive, right?
