So there’s no question about when or how it happened!
ZERO question in this case. None at all. No one, well, maybe a total idiot, could argue that this one happened later. Simply impossible.

The only idiot that could question when and where is the service writer at a shady dealership.

You aren't stuck with one service writer or one person there.
I have walked in and said "I want to talk to this guy, not (insert name here)
You also have the service manager or other dealerships.
At one dealership, the service writers are just that - no real experience, have no idea, they sit and write up orders.
At the one I go to now, 2 or 3 of them know their shit - and can answer technical questions. (sadly, the best one, Dan, left the dealership. He was obviously master tech material)

It isn't that a dealership is necessarily shady - often, it's ignorance. Or, they know there's more money in insurance or customer paid work vs. warranty work.
If given a choice, you'd choose non-warranty work over warranty work. More money, less hassle, less pressure.

But it's better to be busy with warranty work than sitting.

Truck went in to body shop Monday, was ready for pickup Wednesday. Couldn't get there til today but looks good as new, excellent paint job IMO. According to the service manager, these fiberglass tops require a sealant to smooth them out prior to painting and the spot wasn't properly sealed (?)

Either way happy with the outcome, no sign of work being done
