I wonder if the morning reverse clunk could have anything to do with a bad trans filter?

Now I just back the thing into the garage and can pull out without the reverse. Problem not solved but avoided.

Taking it in to the dealer this week for a re flash. I give it little hope of a fix. I think my trans will eventually fail sometime down the road. This morning I had a hard 3-4 shift. One time , then all is OK.

Mine clunks in the morning after start up, but after warming up trans shifts great, no lag, no clunking and hits every gear. But I'll have the Jeep dealer in O.C. MD look at it and the battery in two weeks. I'll be there for two months during school summer vacation.

You d clutch is bad. Your fluid is now burnt. You will have metal in your pan, lots of it. If your under warranty get it in now . If not under warranty get it in now, $1800 fix now, 4-6k if you make it worse by continuing to drive.

What will the dealer have to do to find that my trans is bad? A test drive will prove nothing and no CEL . They will pull the pan only if I pay for it. What will the symptoms be of close to failure? Has anyone here taken one of these apart with these symptoms and found the failure?

Took it to the dealer today for a re flash. After a talk with my guy there its a fact that a re flash will NOT cure this issue. So we just left it alone. No Tazer dealing. He said he has re flashed many and it doesn't fix the clunk. He feels it's an internal issue with the pump and Mopar does not see it as an issue. So until someone has the fix, I am out. Just drive it , the issue only happens once in the morning .

If you ever get it to throw a code, they'll fix it under the TSB depending on mileage. Everything I've heard is no chance otherwise.

It's possibly a pump issue. The TSB deals with the D clutch pack area. Just try to find someone that has fixed one.

I hate to keep bringing this up but mine is still doing the hard cold shift into reverse in the morning and a weird shift from 3 to 4. All just one time when cold. As soon as it warms up a bit or has shifted a few times it's all good. But something is not right. I am sure I am not alone with this .

I have a 2024 and have the same clunk into reverse in the mornings…..
Personally? I’m not worried about it. Every truck I’ve ever owned, did the same thing. It’s the nature of the beast……. You could spend sooo much time & $$ chasing your tail trying to fix it /smooth it out.

I haven’t read the entire thread….and I don’t know what types of vehicles you’ve driven in the past. In general…. These types of vehicles (trucks, 4WD, etc) aren’t going to possess the same ‘quiet’ or ‘smooth’ drivetrain as your sedan or car.

Mine was rebuilt by the dealer under warranty. One of the first 2 done in the US at 45,000 miles. per the TSB. The rear output shaft assembly was replaced, which included the d clutch and backing plate ( which are the failed parts).

Your D-Clutch is going bad in the transmission. TSB was issued on 9/10/2024
This…my Gladdy doesn’t do it but my wife’s 23 jldoes, she had the valve body on the tranny replaced at 5k and still issues, dealer finally agreed to replace the tranny and cover parts in the TSB
