Thanks, I declined as well. I am wondering though, does declining actually stop them from collecting data? The way it's worded definitely sounds like they still collect the data.

Was that a pop up notice? I am not finding it on the Jeep App.

When I opened the app, a notice popped up to update my privacy preferences.

No, the privacy question is only about whether they can sell your data to others. Actually, if that screenshot is all there was to this "privacy" setting, it didn't actually say they wouldn't sell your data to others, it only said you wouldn't receive any offers from them. It is worded as opting out of advertising, not opting out of data collection or selling of your data.

I wonder what they do if you don’t use the app, like if it defaults to “yes” unless you specifically use the app to decline?

I took a stab at opting out of their data collection entirely by disconnecting the two LTE antennas from the Uconnect. I did not get a monthly "Jeep Health Report" in my email this month so maybe it worked. I'll see if I get one next month. I don't use the app.

Wonder that also. All I can find online is just the 100% opt out of the telematics. I just want the third party sharing opt out.

Ok now… let’s take off tin foil hats and put pitchforks down folk. This is for generic advertising campaigns that thousands of other drivers receive. Nobody will go through your driving geolocation data and track you down to save few bucks. You and I are not that important as much as we like to think, if you are really serious about staying off the grid, toss your phone away.

I re-read the posts in this thread and I don’t think anyone appears to be ”up in arms” about this, but I do think it’s a valid concern given the news about GM and other companies working with companies that provide insurance companies with risk profiles about individuals, when then can be used to directly impact your premiums, like what is described here: https://www.prnewswire.com/news-rel...panies-without-drivers-consent-302089793.html.

Otherwise, yes, apps on your phone collect a lot of data about you. But I think in this case the concern is the data being used in this specific way.

I bet all those GM customers from last month’s news report said the same thing you do about this. Lmao. Whether it’s a big deal to worry about or not, it’s good to not be naive and understood what’s being done with personal information.
