Agreed!!
There ain’t a body builder on the planet that can stop 5,000 lbs & overcome momentum.

Note: Even if you’re teetering…..gut reaction is to reach out - DON’T!!! Instead….STOP (…. stop moving and let the rig settle). Gather your wits, keep your arms inside the rig, understand the situation you’re in (hopefully, you have friends with you that can help you get the lay-of-the-land). You have some very important decisions to make on how-the-hell to get yourself out of the situation safely.

Ooo I have a photo that’d be perfect here…but it’s on a USB stick. 😉
I wish mine was still under 6,000 lbs. :)

…I had originally put 3,500 lbs in the post (thinking of the YJ we used to own)…. but had to correct myself. This is a JT and I remembered it actually weighs more than the Canyon I used to own!

Ok so I am a baby to the offroad stuff, but would like to get more into it other than just a gravel road. The few trails ive been on were newb stuff, but still included enough off camber places in trail that just made me a baby. How do you guys get used to the truck tilting and not being afraid of the tought of it tipping or rolling over? I know ive been no where close to that but even the slightest tilt makes it feel like it to me. How do i grow a pair?
First, you're not a baby; it's just a lack of experience. Being off-camber in a car just feels wrong and makes you grab that seat with both cheeks. Start small and work your way up. The next time it starts to feel tippy go ahead and park on that side slope if you can do so safely, hop out and look at the outside. You will see that your butt is miscalibrated and the truck is nowhere near the tipping point.

You can get surprisingly far over before tipping becomes a problem. Where most people cause rollovers is getting the truck bouncing on the suspension - those kinds of dynamic forces can get the vector of movement and gravity outside a point of support much faster than a slow creep.

Looking at the above photo of my truck, you can see that the center of the truck is still well inside where the wheels touch the ground - but it felt sketchy as hell from the seat.

You’ll always remember your first ‘ass puckering‘ experience…..
After that….all bets are off. You’ve **been there done that** and your butt just ignores just about everything else after that. 🤣

My high score is going full teeter-totter in an XJ and again in my Xterra - maxed out articulation and found the balance point where one rear and the opposite front were both off the ground.

The rest of the group found it either "incredibly stupid" or "awesomely funny" when I hopped out and started rocking the vehicle back and forth by gently lifting and pressing on the bumper. There was no middle ground between the reactions. 😆

Just get out on the trails. Don't be afraid to get out of the truck and walk the obstacle. As your walking the obstacle, picture your tires and where you want them go.

This helps get an idea of everything before you drive on it.

After awhile your build up that experience and can tackle the less extreme obstacles without walking them first.

Great point. Walking a tough obstacle is a great way to fail less.

Plan a trip to Moab. Follow a group of similarly set up Jeeps. It will change your perspective about what is sketchy.

I recommend signing up for a Jeep Jamboree. We've done a half dozen, finally (!) trying the Rubicon this summer.
