I have 27386 miles and it's using oil. I checked the oil today and it's just touching the stick. This is after sitting a week.

So........... you didn't say when the last oil change was, or when it was last full/filled. Makes a huge difference.
If you changed it 8,000 miles ago and checked it now and it's down - big deal, that's normal.
Maybe it's time to talk to a dealer about it.

Looking for a simple solution, a quick fix? A single reason they may use oil? Won't happen.

and, not enough info to really see what's going on. We have no idea how often you change the oil, or when the oil was checked, how many miles it took to get that low.
There's also a TSB on oil consumption for certain model years - PCV issues.
But again, if it's low after 6, 7 or 8,000 miles, that's now really a huge thing.

It us due for its next oil change, 500 more miles is due. I've had several diesel that didn't use a drop at over 150000. I just thought it was strange to use oil so new

Collect a sample and send it to Blackstone Labs.
They can tell you if fuel or antifreeze is mixing in, and their metals test may give you a heads up on if there's excessive wear internally.

I would have a compression test of each cylinder and see what the PSI levels are of each. Are they relatively the same? Is there one really bad one? I’m assuming you’re driving a diesel and not a 3.6L pentastar?

I don’t have much knowledge of diesel engines but I’m sure bad compression numbers may point to oil usage.

One test you can do right now is turn on your engine and take off the oil cap. Do you feel no air rushing out or do you feel a lot of air or “blow by”? If you feel a rush of air then you’ve got weak piston rings and your PCV is sending a notable amount of oil back into your throttle body and into your cylinders to be burned. (But again, I’m not sure how diesel engines work)

It's still under warranty. I'll see what I can find out next week. Thank you all for the info and I may go ahead and do the oil test just for peace of mind

Mine uses nearly no oil at the oil change interval. 25k miles on it.

I called the dealer today and they are going to check it out next week.

My diesel used some oil up through approx 12k miles. And I varied the running of the engine alot to get it to break in. Highway, mountain winding, light towing, rural communting....still used a slight bit until the miles built up. Then it like, stopped.
