So, I have a dislike of the shoebox looking rear taillight on the Gladiator. I bought Oracles flush mount set. Upon being delivered I opened the box to inspect the pieces and found that the positive wire on one of the ballasts was broken at the solder point. While I appreciate that Oracle does in fact solder the wires, their quality control must leave much to be desired. Someone actually put the broken piece in the box.

I admit that I’m a little impatient. It was this past weekend and being a holiday no one at Quadratech or Oracle was available. I left messages, sent pictures, asked for a new harness to replace the broken one. Then like I said, I’m impatient. So I resoldered the broken wire to the resistor. I installed my lights and everything works fine and I like the look.

What kind of problems has anyone had with these aftermarket light fixtures? If they put a visibly broken piece into the box for shipping I worry about the quality of the part. As you know these led lights are not cheap.

Hello! Sorry to see that happened, as mentioned by others in the thread, this most likely happened in shipping, as we do QC these before they leave our warehouse.

If this is working now from your re solder, great! However, we are happy to replace this if still needed.

Please let me know how we can help, and we are happy to do so!

Yes, I have already asked for the replacement and I’m waiting.

I installed Oracle taillights and the reverse lights that replace the bumper reflectors. Install went fine. BUT:

I made some significant improvements I think. First, the clips that the screws go into were SO tight, like they were cross threaded. SO, I took the clips off the plastic, held them with some big pliers, and ran the bolt in and out a few times with my drill... WAY BETTER! NOW the stress isn't on the plastic while trying to tighten. Did that for all of them. I have a feeling that was the start point for many of the failures. The clips seem cheaper than factory, not well threaded if at all. So just by me doing that, it might alleviate future problems with too much stress on the plastic pieces holding the nut clips. ALSO, I went over all the pigtails (where the wires go into the plastic connector) with red liquid electrical tape to keep out dust and water. Necessary, no, but while it was clean, I figured what the heck...

I DID notice the space between the light housing and the end of the rear bedside was different on the passenger side, but I managed to push it in a bit while tightening and even them out. They look and perform great! SUPER BRIGHT when backing up at night with all my tinted windows, even in the desert!

Pic for fun...

The Oracle ones look very good and the price is right. Combat off road just came out with some Aluminum flush ones. They are a lot more money than the Oracle ones, and I am not sure on the looks, but, here is a link anyway...

PS. I am still running the stock JTR LED tail lights. I have not broken mine yet, although, I have come very close many times, and did touch one on a rock one time... lol..

Don't wait to break them to get flush mounts. Save the oem lights. If you break the flush mounts you can swap in the OEM lights.
