P0300 caused by EMP (electromagnetic pulse) ???

Ok, hear me out before we get out the tin foil hats! ??

My 2022 with 15,000 miles has only had the P0300 misfire code 3 separate times. I don't remember where I was the first time, but I think it was in Warsaw, IN, which I don't visit often.

BUT, the next 2 times the P0300 code came on, I was in Warsaw, IN, and driving past the same medical facility and giant factory across the street. This was months apart. It got me thinking, is it possible there is some kind of electromagnetic field, or ultra sound, or radiation, etc, that could cause this? All 3 times I cleared the code and it ran totally fine after that.

It seems really far fetched to me that this is possible, but it seems so odd it happened at the exact spot on the road.

Does anybody know if it is possible? Does anybody else have a P0300 code pop up when they are in a specific location?

That's called out of the box thinking. Just what you need to troubleshoot complex problems. Put it on the fishbone diagram!

Ultrasound? No. I've never heard of sound waves impacting a computer's operation

Radiation is not likely either. However, neutrinos can upset silicon focal planes even though they can travel right through the earth and sometimes not react with anything on the way.

EMI is not outside the realm of possibility. I would call it EMI (I=Interference), not EMP. That term is usually associated with nuclear weapons. Though I have to admit EMP in the title got me to look at the thread!. EMI can commonly impact computers, but if it is EMI then the engineers did a poor job designing the electronics with poor grounding and shielding.

I am not up on where Jeep is with the seemingly common P0300 problem but I assume someone who is will jump in.

There won't be anything strong enough - and if you think about it, it would have to be targeting only you. You can't be so lucky as to be the only person who owns something that's impacted but not affecting anyone else.

As far as "thinking outside the box" I can't believe people still use that old meaningless phrase.

When driving back from Boise, I've had my JT turn the check engine light at the same exact spot twice. However, it has something to do with the quick elevation gain, opening the fuel tank to refuel and the rapid loss of elevation after the fuel up. Only way I can explain it.

There won't be anything strong enough - and if you think about it, it would have to be targeting only you. You can't be so lucky as to be the only person who owns something that's impacted but not affecting anyone else.

You sure do have opinions. Hating that phrase is not very useful. You'd be the first guy I would throw out of the room when we were brainstorming ideas on what could be causing the failure we were chasing the root cause for.

You would never make it in the unregulated power generation industry. Thinking outside the box was the norm. Anyway to cut costs and save money. And to keep the plant running.

There is no box, thus there can't be thinking outside of the box. Psychology experts have been picking that lame saying apart for a long time.
You think creatively, you be inventive, but never call it thinking outside of a box that never existed to begin with.

I was promoted over and over, and asked to join groups because I was a troubleshooter and creative thinker - but there's no bloody box.
My father received multiple awards for cutting costs for the company he worked for - it's simply being creative and not accepting status quo. There was never any box he had to think outside of.
It's a phrase favored by management, but in psychology, makes no sense.

I quoted Forbes and Psychology Today - the real experts, while unwitting management still use the phrase.
It's not just my opinion, it's the opinion of many many people who know the origin and why it's a lame phrase.
There is no box. If there is, you created it yourself.

Real experts, not management who think they are, has found using the phrase actually stifles creativity and isn't helpful.

Simple enough theory to test, being your code reader, drive by facility, if code appears, drive par a few miles, clear code, drive by facility again, if it re appears, do it a few more times. If it’s consistent, now you have a more solid theory to work from.

? You know...this could actually be one of the few times that it can be taken almost literally if the "box" being referred to is actually the truck. And this EMI producing medical facility is definitely outside of that "box." ?
