That look good
I could not mount mine there because I have an arb air compressor in that spot
What you may want to do is add a drain hose down low on the jeep with a ball valve at the end of the hose
It makes it easy to drain and will also increase the volume of oil it will hold

I ordered the one I linked previously. I can't see where it could do any harm, and it may do some good.
I'll probably get ahold of Blackstone and see if they can do an analysis on what it collects. It might be fun to see how much oil, water, fuel, Other? is in there after 1000 miles.

I was extremely skeptical at first
Now I am a firm believer in the benefits

I think I like where this one mounts better than right on top of the filter housing.

I just installed the J&L OSC this morning. Was about to pull the trigger on another one, but I also really like the location of this one. Took me all of 15 min.

For anyone else using this one, I moved the mount from the one in @Lunentucker's post, above (I think he posted that from their website). Looking at theirs, they used the bolt hole just in front of the cowl pinch seam.

I moved mine to the one just forward of that, it routes the hose more in front of the brake fluid resevoir. Their location routes the hose over it.

Not a huge deal, but I just liked mine a little better:

Let us know how much oil it collects after 1000 miles

Also, not really easy to see, but here are 2 pics of the OE PCV hose from both ends. I have just a hair under 24k on my odometer:

I did not. Wanted to see how the catch can performed on its own. If I changed both it wouldn't be a good comparison.

Plus I was too lazy to do the PCV ?

No. That was my photo. I did consider using that bolt though, and I still may move it when I install the allen screws I ordered to replace the stock Philips head screws they supplied.
I can't stand a Phillips head.

What size screw did you get? I actually dropped one of the ones that came with the can and couldn't find it. I snagged a random one out of my stash but didn't measure it. I'd much rather have an allen head version as well.

Quick update, and @Lunentucker might be interested in this one since he also bought the same can. I've got just under 1000 miles on mine so I cracked it open to see what was in the can. Right now, I have a couple of ounces of oil and definitely water from crankcase condensation as the mixture has a milky consistency to it.

I also removed the PCV hose going from the can to the intake manifold too see if it was truly stopping anything from getting into the intake. I noticed these small balls of red "goo" about 2mm in diameter just inside the intake manifold and looking into the hose I could see more. I cleaned them out and reached out to J&L. They said this is red grease they use during assembly since the parts fit so snugly and "not to worry" about it.

I went ahead and cleaned out the hose, but I wasn't too thrilled with grease getting sucked into my intake. It was not a lot (maybe a couple of cc's worth).

The Starbucks over-priced drink look is an emulsion if it's a tan or brown color and ironically, is often mostly water. So 2 ounces of the emulsion may be under 1 of oil.
You are one of the few who actually honestly said "oil and water".

For every real ounce of oil caught, it means your crankcase is down that same amount. Can't be anything but. You can get some idea that way. But keeping in mind also - reduction in crankcase level will also be past the rings even in an excellent engine. There's always some getting past the rings.
So if your level is down 1/2 quart in 6,000 miles, some of that will be PCV, some past the rings, some past the valves.

If these were DI engines I'd be a fair bit more concerned.
I'm at 4,500 or so miles on this oil - it's not down even 1/4 quart yet. So considering some is going past rings, and so on, a catch an on mine would be a waste of time and space under the hood.

What you catch will vary with your driving - and if it's a stick and so on - intake vacuum matters, length of drives, etc.
In the days of the real valve, high vacuum conditions closed the PCV valve down reducing the draw from the crankcase, reducing oil pulled. These are purely cyclonic action, high vacuum in the intake means high draw from the crankcase.
Definitely a YMMV thing.

I just emptied my last week after a 1000 miles with the new updated PCV valve and there was absolutely no difference in the amount of oil collected before and after the new PCV valve
So I see no reason to replace the PCV valve on my wife's Rubicon
