Is anyone using a Pedal Commander on a 3.6 gas? Is it worth it?

I had the Pedal Commander on my 3.6 JT and liked it for the first several months. After that it started causing the check engine light with code P2138 meaning "Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch "D"/"E" Voltage Correlation." To their credit, Pedal Commander replaced it but once it came back I replaced it with a Banks PedalMonster. My understanding was that because the Pedal commander gets its power from the throttle connection at the pedal, the voltage is inconsistent. The Pedal Monster gets power from the OBD port so the supply is constant. All I can say is I ran the pedal monster for 3 years with two different Gladiators and never had a problem. Both greatly reduced pedal lag but I was happier with the one from Banks.

A pedal controller is a third of the way cost wise to a complete custom engine and transmission tune. And all that pedal device is doing is manipulating your pedal voltage signal to the ECU to emulate a quicker pedal/more power feel.

If you don't want to go the tuning route, I recommend Banks Pedal Monster. It is better designed and has a failsafe built in to it and get's it's voltage from the OBD2 port which is far superior to the canbus 5 volt signal at the pedal as mentioned earlier.

Definitely Pedal Monster over the Commander. The Pedal Monster has really good feedback here.

If pockets are deeper, check out a custom tune from BMP.

I agree with the above. If getting a throttle controller, pick pedal monster over pedal commander.

Pedal monster has the fail-safes built in.

I've had mine for a while and have had no issues.

It definitely eliminated that throttle lag and I like the feel of the more linear profile.

Curious why people use these devices, as it creates ZERO additional power, just a mental trick, as I can mash the pedal to where it needs to be all by myself. They only change the relationship of the pedal travel to the signal sent to the ECM. Even heard stories of folks rear ending other cars in stop and go traffic because the pedal was too sensitive.

Widgets like that do not add power. And they don't claim to. But they do allow you to customize the throttle response. It is not always a matter of making the throttle faster. With ours, we use the widget to speed up the throttle response on road, especially when towing. But when we go off road we use the widget to slow down throttle response, making it easier to manage. That helps, especially when the transfer case is in low range.

Mashing the throttle pedal faster is not the same thing as using a throttle widget. Mashing the throttle pedal faster does not change the delay in the stock pedal. If the delay in the stock pedal does not bother you, or if you have no need to slow down or speed up the throttle response, don't get one. But for anyone who wants to be able to adjust throttle response and get rid of the built in stock delay, the widgets are a cheap way to make your Jeep do what you want.

I have a Pedal Monster, and am absolutely thrilled with it, would recommend it to anyone with a 3.6 Jeep. Absolutely worth the money.

Have several thousand miles on mine without issue now.
