I am a former Wrangler owner but currently own a Nissan Frontier (only because I needed a pickup). Based on the spy shots and mockups the JT will be nearly the same length with similar cab to bed proportions.

The two things that drew me to the Nissan was the Utilitrack system and bed extender.

What, if any, are some pickup features you hope Jeep will consider to make it functional?

Besides the afore-mentioned I would like to see a power source set up similar to the Toyota Tacoma's.

I really like the Rambox bed containers built in to the Ram trucks. I think that would be a really cool feature.

I think the bed is too narrow already, probably wouldnt have more than 30 inches of width if you added rambox.

It would be great if there was a fold down panel on the back of the cab and front of the bed that would allow you put things in both the bed and cab. Since the roof will be a seperate part already imagine if there was a tail gate of sorts at the back of the body to put really long things into part of the cab and bed.

I put stuff through my sliding rear window on my current truck. I'm sure a sliding window or removable glass will be an option.
I'm not sure if it would be cost effective but I would like to see it too.

This is my Frontier. It's functionality still surprises me.

Any truck with less than a 6 foot bed, is a pretend truck IMO. Flame suit is on, let me have it!

I don't think jeep really cares about making a "real truck" by your book. i think they are giving their base what they want. A jeep with truck look that has the same versatility and capabilities as the current Wrangler. These trucks will sell like crazy if it has a 5' bed or a 6.5" bed. To them bed length will not define sale numbers and they are probably looking at it like just appeal to what the people are saying.

I'm a simple man. Give me a bed with multiple tie-down locations and I'm happy.

I disagree. The Gladiator needs to compete in the midsize truck segment. If people want a Wrangler, they'll buy a Wrangler. In order for this model to succeed, they need to appeal to what actual truck owners want in order to get people to jump brands. Otherwise, you are just splitting the Wrangler crowd. If this thing shows up with some wimpy bed, you aren't going to find many people willing to ditch their current truck for one. Myself included.

I'm hoping there will be a 2-door. That version should be able to have a 6' or slightly longer bed without making he truck too long. I understand most people want/need a 4 door truck. A 6' bed on the 4-door is going to make that model really long. The 4 door bed is scaled by mid_south_rzr in this post http://www.jeepscramblerforum.com/f...d-you-like-shared-with-the-jt.1340/#post-8630 looks to be about 5'.

I'm happy with an unlimited or a 2 door pickup, I'm in that "split wrangler crowd".

Oh come on. The most popular configuration of trucks have beds less then 6 feet.
Because that's what the manufacturers offer in 4 door models to prevent the truck from being too long. They know they can sell these to the weekend warriors. People want the "truck look" and need 4 doors for their family, I get it. But they aren't bought by people that need a truck for serious work. Yes, you can haul an 8' sheet of plywood in a 5' bed, but hauling 12' lumber ain't gonna happen. My '89 Toyota pickup, which I still own, has hauled an incredible amount of building materials. The 6' bed really is the cut-off for maximum utility.

If you're OK with 5', I understand, but 6' is way more capable.

Except if you still want trail capability. Jeeps go MANY places a "real" truck wouldn't dream about. The lengthening of the wheel base, even 20 inches for the scrambler, is going to hinder that performance.
I have never needed a 6'+ long bed nor would I want one. I like being able to park it in my garage and have cabinets for storage. I also appreciate the shorter turn radius that a "real" truck lacks.

The Tacoma comes in both 5' and 6' options in the their Double Cab, but the 5' outsells the 6' by quite a bit. It would be nice if Jeep offered both like Toyota does to give people options. Or if they could work something out like the Avalanche photo I posted above you could have a 5' bed with the benefits of an 8' bed if you needed it.
