After weeks of deliberation and waiting for the right deal...I just pulled the trigger on 37x12.5 Baja Boss Mud Terrains to replace my 35x10.5 Swamper SSRs. Thought I would share my perspective as it is a big decision.

I had no reason other than wanting to go bigger as I have been really impressed with the SSRs in all conditions. Instead of going with 37" SSRs I figured I would try out a modern tire and the Baja Boss tires (both AT and MT) have been getting great reviews. I am also a big fan of Mickey Thompson as I have ran many of their tires in the past and they tend to perform and balance well. Another big plus in my book is they are made in the U.S.

My Jeep is a daily driver but I don't put many miles on it anymore since Covid. Regardless, it is driven in all conditions here in the mountains of the PNW and I need a tire that does well in rain, mud, snow and ice. I almost went with the Boss AT since it is 3PMSF rated and still looks pretty good. However, I have been in deep thick mud and snow past the frame out here so the MT should perform better. For on road manners, anything as good or better than my SSRs would be fine with me and I would assume both the Boss AT and MT should be better there.

Finally, the MTs are about $250 more expensive for 5 tires and honestly since I was waffling so much between the two I almost ordered the AT...that is until this week 4WP had $540 off the MTs and $300 off the ATs which made the MTs $50 cheaper overall! Put the order in with Discount Tire price match and discovered today 4WP reduced the discount to the same as the ATs...so I lucked out because I checked the price daily for 2 weeks and the $540 discount was only good for three days (possibly website error stacking discounts?)!

So long story short, Baja Boss MTs are on the way and I am really excited I got a killer deal ? I will post pics as soon as I can. Now time to find a buyer for my SSRs!

Cheers

Got them installed! I think it is the perfect stance and look great! They balanced well and ride nice. Only slight disappointment is they measured shorter than what others previously mentioned at 36 1/8" tall at 32 psi on 17x8 wheels.

I need to get 37s soon. Your truck looks awesome.
Thanks I appreciate it! More to come...2.5 ton steering, through shaft steering stabilizer, track bars, rock sliders, rear bumper, gears, and some paint/repainting parts and maybe change decals. Currently waffling on weather to change the front bumper to the Barnes Pritchett Canyon and possibly going with metal fenders. It never ends and expensive but too much fun ?

Cheers

I was craving a Barnes Pritchett Canyon bumper set up before I saw a fella had one fail at the welds.

Oh wow that is good to know thanks for sharing. Where did it fail? Not much info out there on them tbh.

Cheers

I thought I may have measured wrong (and measured twice). Indeed my Baja Boss ATs are 36" and I am disappointed with that when so many other tires measure out at 36.5 plus. Rig looks great!

I'll take solace knowing it's not as bad as a 37" BFG measuring 35.5" ? Oh well, these are great tires and they look great regardless. I feel like they don't look too big or too small in person.

This is one of the reasons I wanted to find a 38" tire as it would be perfect, but I do not like the available 38x12.5 options at all (Ridge Grappler and Patagonia....pretty much it).

Cheers
