This thread is a bit old, but I ended up under a pine tree, and it looks like an Ogre sneezed all over my ride! Denatured alcohol...where can I get that? O'Reilly? Or I have a can of WD-40. Any other products work?
Had bought a car that was COVERED in pine sap.
I just used isopropyl/rubbing alcohol you can get at any pharmacy or walmart.
The higher the alcohol content the better/faster it works.
Just keep rag soaking wet all the time.

Did not harm the paint.
And I did not sneeze on your truck. ;)

I got the denatured alcohol at local hardware store. It worked pretty well. Initially it left smears on window and paint, even after washing with soap afterwards. I redid this, then took to car wash and pressure washed/brushed/pressure washed and it resolved it. Now...to get the tree removed :)

Believe it or not, you may have the best remover of pine sap in your fridge. Plain old Hellmans mayonnaise. Works better than WD-40, I never tried the alcohol method... Because I can't see anything taking it off better than the mayo.
