Ya first trip down and no lockers or anything. I'm looking forward to it!

You'll have a great time! Roger is a lot of fun! Do you have a CB? He likes to tell stories and give local information on the trail. You'll want a "real" unit with an actual antenna. I carry a handheld to spot people and it's only good for a few hundred yards. You'll want something that can cut it for a mile in worst case. (Get your SWR to at least 1.5). Handheld is great for me to talk to the driver as I spot. Doesn't seem to transmit much further than that despite it's 9 AA batteries

NICE! First Timers for you eh? Roger Peck is a good friend of mine. He's an excellent trail leader. Few leaders hold a candle to how he runs a trail.

My schedule:
Hells Revenge on first Sat
Poison Spider on Sunday
10am Metal Masher on Monday
Steel Bender on Wednesday.
I'm gunning those days.

I'm on Black Dragon Canyon on Thursday as a participant, then headed for home.
I'll be running Hells on that Saturday. Snazberry JT, VA tag "NO LEFT". I'll look for ya.

Awesome! I'm a gunner that day. We've had our Trail Leader and group together for maybe 10+ years. We are usually off the trail by about 4-5 pm. Look forward to having you out from VA

He won't have a GMRS. I don't know exactly why, but RR4W is still CB only (officially). I'll have 3 radios running for the week (HAM, GMRS and CB). It gets confusing but I make it work for RR4W events.

Ok, help me plan a Moab trip.

April 2023.

Current plan is to arrive on a Saturday, bringing my trailer.

"Light" off roading till Tuesday, day trips. Day at Arches Wednesday then head out Thursday AM.

Do I need reservations on trails? Is there permits or anything I need prior to leaving?

What are some good "light" off road trails I can go on?

As much as I want to do every hard thing there is that's not in the cards. A my skill, B solo, C can't damage anything given the rest of the planed trip.

Never been! So walk me through the place.

I plan to attend Loveland CO in August. Hit some CO/UT/NM on the way back. Went to Flagstaff overland expo and loved it.

Ok dumb question.

How do we know when and where to meet for our various trails?

That in the packet we pick up at the Old Spanish Trail Arena?

The magazine has all of that information.
https://www.rr4w.com/jeep-safari-mag-flip.cfm
page 30-31 have the locations in town for trail line ups.
Pages 52-57 have the trails and what locations they are on which day

Oh awesome thanks!

Usually there are a LOT of printed magazines around town. Almost any gas station or restaurant will have one. I usually grab 2-3 and hand them to folks and try to help them find where they need to go.
