I was installed the AEV 2.5 lift kit on my Gladiator yesterday, and when removing the passenger rear spring it hit a plastic cover which popped out of place and fell on the ground. Heres the problem, I cant get the bloody thing back on. Im 90% sure where it goes, but I cant get it to snap back into place, the teeth are not damaged, so I know it will go back on if I only knew how to. I was hoping if anyone knew how this part goes back on or can offer any help. I've attached pictures of the plastic cover and what i think it covers. Also, if anyone can take a picture of this cover installed on their truck it would help me greatly.

Honestly I have no idea what that plastic cover is for, but maybe try and hit it hard, not too hard where you'll crack the plastic, but hard enough to snap it back in? Or use a thin flat-head screwdriver to get the teeth back in and tap it in.

I was about to say there isn't anything like that on my 22 Rubicon. After typing it out I decided I'd better look to make sure and dang if there isn't something there. I'm at work so I couldn't crawl through the gravel to get under it well enough for a picture but when we close in about 20 minutes, I'll get under there and get one for you

That’s interesting. Now I need to go look. I’ll be interested to know what it is.

After looking at mine and not setting an obvious release, I’m thinking there may be tabs inside that catch the edges of whatever that is. Can you take a picture looking into it?

Passenger side. I took mine loose but not all the way off, just in case it was hard to put back on. I spread it apart slightly at the tabs and it slid off a little. I pushed it back on then pulled on it to make sure it had locked in place all around. Felt loose, like it would pop off too easy.

The plastic cover is the splash shield, the white module on the back of the vapor canister box is the ESIM detector.
Splash shield comes off easily if you play with your Jeep at all. Module can become dirty/fouled without it as I just recently replaced mine due to an EVAP leak I was chasing, don't ask me how the splash shield goes back on, mine's still on the workbench...
