Oh, totally. Those massive interchanges are insane. Have you driven 95 between the Beltway and Bel Air recently? Its one giant cluster with the widening/express lane extensions. By the time they're done it will have already been rendered obsolete and the only ones to benefit will be Allan Myers.

That's being rebuilt too. Not terrible, but not awesome. If only the toll money actually went to road maintenance.

Thank the politicians for that. They see a cash cow and milk it for as long as they can. Only one state comes to mind that has ever enacted then yanked tolls once the roads were paid for- Connecticut.

In all seriousness though, the PA Turnpike west of Carlisle isnt THAT bad. East? Awful.

I stay out of Philly at all costs. That's the "City of Brothers on Drugs" as we in the western part of the state call it.

Yeah......PennDot raided the turnpike commissions piggy bank. So now the tolls have to go up every year because of this.

Fed law. Toll roads can not be built with fed money. If a state uses fed money to help build the road. The state can not charge a fee for it's use.

Lol, I pay nearly $800/year for registration here in NE and our roads aren’t amazing. Heck, my 50yo truck was $80/year till I changed it to a historical registration.

I haven’t been to the city since before Covid and I can see center city from my road.

I commute to the South Philly area everyday for work. Philly is no different than any other large metro area of it's size. Just have to know where it is safe or not safe to be a pedestrian.

It took a pretty bad crash at a toll booth for them to go away (wasn’t out of the goodness of the politicians’ hearts).
I actually want to see then come back. Sick of all the traffic diverted through my state clogging up our interstate because the route to Mass through New York has tolls. I swear sometimes it seems like there’s more out of state plates on 84 than CT plates.

Well, when your state is essentially just a corridor to everywhere else, that's gonna happen. In the minds of many, Connecticut is just "Connector-cut" between NY and Boston.

Delaware is the same way. Pass through state for the majority to interstate and down state traffic to the beaches. When Hurricane Sandy wiped out the Jersey and New York area beaches, only made it worse.

Friday through Sunday it is majority New York and PA plates clogging up the roads. State makes it money though as the tolls down state to the beaches go up on the weekend.
