Last night I replied to an add on the marketplace stating that I would PM them. Within a couple of minutes I got a different PM from a user named GoodGood who had just registered.

I thought is was suspicious that this newly registered individual knew how often another member was on, so I did a search with his email. It seems they have tried to scam ferrari owners as well.

Did the post you responded to follow all the rules for a Marketplace item?

Did you click on the Report option and notify the forum admin?
I will clarify, I responded to a marketplace ad by another member. I stated that I was going to PM them. Within a couple of minutes I received a different PM from a completely different member as shown in the image. GoodGood is not the person from the marketplace.

To clarify further, this has nothing to do with the member who has an ad up on the marketplace.

Just hit the report link in the PM. Let the mods take care of it.

I moderate on another forum running the same software as this one and there is probably 20-30 scammer registering each day doing the third party redirect email scam. Some are bots but most are third world scammers hiding behind a VPN.

I just wanted to make sure the username and email address was out there before somebody got scammed.
It's good to get that information out. But, this is also why I don't post that I'm going to PM someone. I just send the message and wait for them to respond.

I got the same message yesterday. I thought it looked screwy so I didn’t respond to it. It is definitely a scammer. It’s a big problem with these marketplaces. You just can’t trust anyone anymore. The world has gone to shit!

Any member can see what an online member is looking at, when they were last seen and so on. Almost all forum software I've been involved with does this.
I also wonder (and this is NOT aimed at you, but you made me think of it)
I have always wondered why people post "PM sent" or "will send a PM" as that person will know when you send a PM. It's not like "the check is in the mail".
All the time on the AMC forum people post "PM sent" as if it's a warning "back off because _I_ am contacting this seller!".
Like I said - not aimed at you, you just made me think of a thing I constantly see on the forum I am admin of.

Example of how easy it is to see who's doing what -

All of of the above it meant to be generic for the most part - not picking on anyone, etc. just observations.
I guess it's getting late.

@OP - thanks, most of us appreciate the heads up. Shitbags are found everywhere, know-it-alls included.
