I am considering getting PPF. I have not yet due to cost however I have already had to wash/wax 3 times this month to remove dirt and grime from adventures. I have 3 week long trips planned this summer and several weekend getaways.

this has me considering PPF so I dont have to wash as often. However, i am concerned with long term reliability of it and how hard/expensive repairs would be if say a branch totally tore through it requiring replacement.

Show me your bad experiences and failures of your PPF and how long it lasted please.

Total PPF for me would probably be north of $2,500 due to the market in my area.

Reviving this thread.

Any opinions or input? My paint, after just 2 years, already feels....sandy. Ick. I had a pretty good washing routine too.

So I am reconsidering doing an entire vehicle PPF - to avoid having to worry about it anymore. But some concerns are how long it will realistically last. What happens if I start noticing some paint bubbling like some have experienced - will Jeep use that against me to not warranty the paint? What if I have to remove it some day to replace if the PPF is too badly scratched and damaged - do you risk stripping paint off the vehicle to remove PPF? I have seen videos of people removing a wrap and that looks like a risky situation to me.

But I dont want body rust from rock dings or branch scratches.

So is $2,500 worth it?

You can krder the kit yourself. It really is not hard to do. You just need a clean vehicle and clean environment to do it. A friend to help hold and postion will help out as well. If you take care of it, it will last over 5 years. Some of the new material is self healing when scratched.

Getting mine done next week with expel. 2500 seems very low for a full body wrap, maybe they mean full front end? Lowest quote I’ve gotten is 7500 for a full body wrap.
anyway did the full front half of my wife’s 4Runner right after we bought it and totally worth it in my opinion. Scratches self heal in the sun and have had many rocks hit that would have chipped the paint.

doing the full wrap on my gladiator with ceramic coating included on top, so much easier to keep clean.
As long as the installer is good I think you’ll be happy. 10 year warranty with expel

7500?? Dude no way! That is far too expensive. Are you sure there wasn't a type-o on the estimate they gave you?

That was the cheapest quote when calling around. Some wanted all the way to 10k. I’m paying around $5500 since I’m a return customer. Also mine is paint matched so getting hard top and fenders done.

maybe I need to go out of state for this, I’d much rather pay 2500 to get it done but I have a feeling they are quoting the full front, not the whole jeep but maybe my area is just ripping people off lol

Oh so you are doing a full wrap. I think the cost of that is quite a lot different than PPF since PPF doesn't wrap around every nook and cranny since theres no color to it.

Man I just commented this on another thread…. Yeah $7k+ is what I called and got from 3 PPF dealers in Washington.

are you sure they priced you for PPF??? Vinyl is $3500 for full wrap… but this is only going to last a few years.

PPF does cover every nook and cranny, and is now being offered by a couple companies in colors…..

hahah I think we have a convo on two different threads right now hahahah. I gotta pay attention to who I'm replying to.

I'm pretty sure it was 2500 for PPF. I'll try and call some places tomorrow if I can cause now you got me questioning the previous quote I had.

If it's being offered in colors then how is it different than a standard wrap?

It’s a totally different material than vinyl- vinyl is what “wraps” are usually made from…. They also do not “heal” with warm water. ???

To clarify I’m getting expel PPF installed on my gladiator, not changing the color at all. Just the clear film to protect the paint… Full wrap meaning hard top, fenders, doors, hood, bed, basically all exterior painted surfaces.

they do offer what they call a full front wrap which is much cheaper, around the 2500 mark but again only covers the hood, fenders and windshield frame. And I believe that’s what you were quoted. It’s what I did to my wife’s 4runner. Covers all the hot spots for it since the tires don’t stick out and she doesn’t off road it much so we weren’t worried about the sides as much.

Depends who you ask
Had the front done on mine with expel. Want to say it was like 1500$ but it was in the middle of the coof lock downs. They did the lowest parts of the sides and double coated the rear fenders and put some on the hinges. Best thing I've done to my ride so far. There's not a single scratch or stone chip with 26 thousand miles. My only regret was not doing the whole enchilada. Back then they would have done it for either 5 or 5500. Now its considerably more..
