And I got busy removing the old RC electric running boards. You know, the fact that they survived and never stopped working is a testament to their quality! Kudos to Rough Country!
So with the bumper install in mind, I thought I'd take a couple of minutes (hours) and get that new sway bar installed. First, I pulled the factory disconnecting bar:
The sway lock concept keeps the thinner inner bar connected at all times, and with the flip of a lever, engages the thick outer bar, which actually improves on-road handling
As per usual, I greased everything prior to assembly. I then pieced together the bar and mounts on the bench, then bolted that into the stock position.
I packed the factory Rubicon disconnect connector in grease, then placed that inside a plastic bag, then taped all that up and zip-tied it out of the way.
It works quite well. You thread a stud into the end of the bar, then place a washer, then a nut to capture the assembly. Just turning the nut with a wrench pulls it all together quite nicely.
On the drivers side is the fixed inner.
I screwed in the grease zerk into the end of the inner bar, then lubed everything.
I will not attach the arms to the axle until I install the new springs. I purchased 4" for the front and 5" for the rear. They are onsite so that will happen PDQ.
Now I am set up perfectly to install that new Gen Right aluminum bumper.
