We were good at 9500' around Leavitt Lake. Stoves and propane fire pit ran just fine. Haven't made it passed that. Thank God the diesel heater also worked well since temp dropped into the teens one night.

Almost my backyard. Never made it to the lake. How's the road in?

It wasn't particularly difficult with the Gladiator. There were a couple of really rutted sections from the rain that would make it difficult for a crossover Honda or f150 ive seen on YouTube. My buddy's 4runner had no problem either.

Temps + altitude will increase your propane usage. Not only do you need more gas for a given use due to the temperature differential, tank pressure drops pressure and thus increases usage. The smaller the tank the greater pressure drop while using it which in turn further reduces pressure.

These effects are a prime reason liquid fuels are used in high altitude mountaineering and on arctic expeditions. The nice thing about a dragon fly (MSR) is that you can use any liquid fuel from JP8 to white gas or naphtha.

Love white gas fuel. My choice for higher altitude in the Sierra's is MSR Reactor stove. Way more efficient.
