I have my JTR on order and am planning out my lighting setup. I'm going with the RR Arcus bumper but no overrider.. Here are my thoughts/questions:
- Going to mount the LP6 using the holes for the overrider bar. For those with this bumper, do the hooks block the lights at all?
- Are the LP6s overkill? Should I save the $200 and get the LP4s?
- Am I correct in getting the Squadron Pros in the Spot beam for the hood mount?
- Will the Squadron Sports be an upgrade over the factor LED fogs? I'm going to use the wide beam with amber covers on these lights.
- Is there anything I'm not thinking about that I should be? I have the aux switches and plan to wire the spots and lps to them. The fog switch will control the fogs still.
- I looked at KC but the @Baja Designs stats blow them out of the water from what I'm seeing. How's the real world feedback? I live in PA so dealing with all the seasons/weather and lots of muddy wooden trails.

Thanks!

I had squadron sports as fogs on my previous truck and they are fantastic lights. Plenty of output. And that they are user changeable even more impressive that after three years, not a lick of moisture in em.

I went KC this time as their Gravity Fogs are just sublime in the fog. They throw light in a perfect low, flat spread without glare. And for my mountain snow and fog drives well worth it. They are about the same cost, if not $50 cheaper, as the Squadron sports, but the sports definitely put iut more lumens, but not in as nice a pattern for fogs.

As for the LP6, well, i can only dream of that. Those are beautiful things. But did just put on a pair of KC SlimLites LED and they put out 9k lumens each. And again a great pattern for a spot with plenty of overall throw. And only $350 for the pair. It was so much light, that when I threw them on for the first time, I actually laughed. It was almost an obscene amount of light to just flick on from a single pair.

As for blockage, the horn is in the way. I habe the Venator, and the overider bar holes are similarly placed behind the horn. So I drilled a mounting hole to a spot a little more inward.

Definitely a fan of Baja Designs, but they are very expensive. So gave KC a try this time.

Below, is the gravitys, my halogen highs and then the SlimLites.

And for another comparison. Heres some Squadron Pros (I think in wide cornering, with an amber cover) that I passed on and placed on my mates JK on the A pillar.

I was between a KC set up and the @Baja Designs but really dig the backlight on the LPs.... totally vain I know but why do all this stuff if you can't look cool too....

Did you have to reinforce where you drilled? I thought about running a piece of bar stock from one hole to the other and then I can mount my lights anywhere but that may not be possible with the winch control box.

Oh, I’m a sucker for the backlighting as well there. They are awesome lights, and I am sure worth every cent, as I found my Squadrons to be. So brilliant lights, and bonus they exude cool. So win win :)

And no, no reinforcements. It’s on a stamped ridge, and the mount for the plate is an inch or so away. It doesn’t seem to detract or be ill fitting and well away from any interference with the winch.

Would you mind snapping a pic of what you’ve done?

Unfortunately didn’t take more than this pic of it.

I just eyeballed a spot that had clearance for the bolt and mount, as well as general front to back placement, and copied the measurements to the other side and drilled a hole that was as big as the mounting bolt. It’s fairly soft steel. And a little touch up paint just to seal the cut edge and torqued down.

I did it with the winch in place as I was feeling particularly lazy and hasty. So some contortions with the wrench, but not really a burden.
