We have had GC fob batteries last over 3, even 4 years. How long or short do these last and why such a short life? I had a wj fob last easily over 4 years
I haven't had mine long enough to comment. The capacity of the CR2450 battery is more than double the other smart key fobs I have. I suspect the battery will last as long as the GC smart fob.

There is a better way to design the assembly than what's done with the AJT, even if it's just for the initial battery install.

I would assume the big 2450 battery should last as long as any other smart fob that have the smaller batteries. Unless a moran like me runs the fob through a few wash and dry cycles. Although after some unwanted practice I now have acquired the skill set to replace my battery with ease in my AJT fob, and have proven the OEM circuit board is laundry cycle resistant (can't verify the durability of being submerged for a lengthy amount of time).

I washed mine once so far. Days after purchasing the truck. Thankfully it didn't effect mine at all.

How exactly did you mount the lights on your factory steel bumper? If you posted that in a thread please share a link. I like that
It's truly a non-event, simple as could be. The bolts that came with the lights were the same diameter as the stock bolts. Literally just dropped them in and put a nut on the back. It was a pain to reach the nut with the winch already in place, but I got it done. There's also a piece of self-stick pipe insulation foam under each light mount just to fill in gaps, keep the lights from turning, and protect the paint (the bumper has a slight curve, light mounts are flat).

Do you really think that guy can read?

How long is the actual key part when extended? I am far from an engineer but I like to put my thinking cap on sometimes. I will see what I can come up with for a half-ass design. I have something in mind to appease those with push button starts and those who need the key in one fob. Whether it could work or not in real life is for someone smarter than me to figure out. I will bust out the pen and paper.

Wait, there are some Gladiators WITHOUT the pushbutton start? I had no idea.

I'm pretty sure all models have push button starts so all need the RIFD board from the fob. Those with manual locks (us Base model guys and gals) need the physical key for locking the doors...

...or locking our keys in the truck like I managed to do this weekend. Doh. We stopped after a long drive and I forgot I had unclipped my keys from my belt so they weren't wedged into my butt the whole trip.

Hoping this smaller form factor will let me keep the keys clipped to my belt at all times so I don't have a repeat performance.

REMOTE or PUSH BUTTON?
Remote on fob - push button on dash.

Oops. I was thinking the base sport still needed a key. My bad. Still though, to lock seatbacks and such, a key is needed sometimes. I just want to know how long the usable key part is so my idea will have some sort of proper dimensions to it. I don't have a gladiator to measure myself.

remote on fob only for automatic transmissions
Yes - for now........... that may change some day.............
You'd have to prep - leave it in neutral, parking brake set, whatever, and it would have to detect being in neutral with brake set.

Years ago they said you couldn't put cruise on a stick either.
That ended in the 90s when it became rather common to see cruise on a stick.
I adapted cruise to my 82 SX4 - with a T5

Seems like the technology is already in the gladiator.. when it uses auto stop/start, it knows if you threw it in gear without the clutch.. it tells you to step on the clutch to turn on.. I've actually used that feature to open my door without it turning back on so i can run in the store real quick..

the shops in my city won't even try it, not that they are afraid of auto-start for manual, they don't like doing it on convertibles, as someone can get in and put in gear with doors off etc. i dunno but i don't miss it and it gets pretty cold where i live, the heated seats and steering wheel are awesome and the pentastar warms up pretty quick, having to sweat a little where it's hot like in south states and cooling interior down is pretty waaaa waaaa reason for auto-start if you ask me ;)

I had it in my ram.. it was cool for both got and cold.. fortunately chrysler does really well with heat, which matters more to me.. i hate the cold if it's hot i like the windows down, top off anyway
