Loading our 150# newf has become a chore. When he DOES get in on his own, it is painful to watch. When we help him up, it is literally painful on my back! There just isn't a lot of room on the floor behind the seat for him the clamber up, and the seat is too high for him to jump. The back door being so narrow doesn't help, I'm sure. Neither do the taller tires (sorry, pup), which put the door at 27" and the seat at 36".
So, looking at ramps and steps. All kinds of choices. Most seem too wide for the space. As mentioned above, the door just doesn't open wide, and is narrow to boot. Height doesn't seem a problem. Getting to 27" would let him step up to the seat, and would actually be the same height as our other sport-ute's rear hatch.
Not pulling the rear seat, as we use the under-seat storage and my kiddo sits back there (yes, with the dog - they snuggle). The back seat actually works fine once he is up.
Unloading would certainly be easier on his joints with a step or ramp. He can kamikaze out today, but it is more of a belly flop.
Guessing this would be easier door-less. Still a bit chilly here in the midwest for that.
So, has anyone found the ultimate solution?
