Woke up this morning to take a drive with the family and the rear locker light was flashing when I started the jeep. Tried pushing the off button nothing. Tried turning the switch on and off still there. Tried unhooking the batteries and back nope still flashes. Far as I can tell it’s not locked or trying to just lights flashing. Any ideas? Sensor issue?

Unlikely an actual problem with the locker.

Pretty common failure…. Up until recently it meant “replace axle”. They have a repair kit now.

The likely culprit is a failed position sensor wire. Which weren’t replaceable. There’s a kit if you’re out of warranty but I think you still have to remove the carrier.

They don’t have to remove the carrier, I had this happen at 90 miles , did the Z-Wave. My dealer knows and agreed it was stupid to swap out the whole axle at the time, and would do the repair if I wanted. Last time we checked there was a long back order on the sensor yet. I am not sure I am ever going to do it. I do know it was posted that if you drive too much with it that way it will disable lockers. I was nuts about it when it happened and basically parked my Jeep until doing the Z-Wave thing…..Jack

Happened to me twice, I just hold the lockers off button while rolling as long as it took to vanished

Currently having the same issue. Installed the Taser harness and it went away. Either going to take it to the dealer or try to "pot the sensor" as a permanent fix. Most likely try the dealer first and see how it goes.

This happened to me when I first bought the JT, and the Dealer ended up replacing the entire rear axle. Mentioned something about the sensor and an issue it had.

Had mine replaced at 21k miles … no issues driving around for a week while flashing. It’s just a sensor…

potting the sensor after it malfunctions will be for nothing. It wont fix the issue. Get it to the dealer for a new one and then pot it.

I potted mine at 32k miles and the rear had just a couple of drops of gear oil in them but was obviously going to be an issue eventually. The lockers work way quicker now after potting.

What is this potting process? Something loamy or something more well-draining?

Sorry to open up an old thread, but had this problem come up on my 21 at about 60k miles. I ordered the z-locker, but was wondering if anyone knows with certainty if its safe to drive with the light blinking? I have an about 7 hour round trip drive scheduled for this weekend and am not certain if the z-locker will come in time.

Yes safe to drive. All the Z locker harness does it turn the light off, it does not actually fix the issue just makes it so you don't see it.

Replace the sensor and pot it.

I had this happen this morning. I turned on my locker in the snow and had it flash when i tried turning it off. Got it off after pushing locker off button a couple times then the service locker light came on.

Its safe to drive? It just means the locker wont engage until serviced?

EDIT: i turned off the truck went in to get my coffee and came out. The light went out, no warning lights. Everything seems fine.
