The hammock section doesn't subdivide, but that's still the closest thing to a viable solution. Thanks for the suggestion.
be careful, there is a "with" and "without" hammock one.

and OF COURSE amazon doesn't have the black WITH hammock in REGULAR.....

I use a hammock style cover in the rear seat of my JKU. it also has a zipper along the middle on the side that connects to the front head rests. This allows you to fold down one side and keep the other setup for the dog. For keeping my pup secure I just use a leash wrapped around the middle roll bar and connect it to his harness. In a crash it wouldn't do a whole lot, but it lets him jump from window to window while not allowing him to jump OUT the window.

That's why I included this other link for you guys (once I noticed Amazon was out of stock)...you can order it directly here - https://4knines.com/products/split-rear-car-seat-cover-for-dogs-hammock-option-black-regular
nice, with code 4K9SAVE10 it was $81 shipped. Yes i ordered one. Gotta have something for this pup in a week. Hopefully it gets here by then.

AND now I just remembered our plans changed and I won't be getting the dog with my truck, but with our van and kids......oh well, I'll need this down the road I guess. =)

@steffen707 my wife has a seat cover similar to the 4knines one listed above in her suv and it works great for keeping muddy paws off the back seat and hair out of the crack of the seat. Easy to take off and wash. Will be getting one for my next ride as well. (Currently just take the back seat out of the 2dr JK and throw down a blanket for the dog)

However, harnessing is a must!! You can be the best driver in the world and still have some idiot not paying attention hit you and throw the dog around the car like a pinball. Or worse with the top off!! For my Shepard, I noticed the regular harnesses with the chest “straps”, would start chaffing her and leave a sore on her chest after 2 days at a Jamboree so I got her more of a tactical vest with a padded chest piece.

ICEFANG Large Dog Tactical Harness,Military K9 Working Dog Molle Vest,No Pulling Front Clip,Metal Buckle Easy Put On Off (L (28"-35" Girth), CB-Molle Half Body) https://www.amazon.com

It has a d-ring on the back and the chest so I can hook her into the Jeep before I unhook the leash and visa versus when getting her out. In the JK I have a Kurgo runner setup I got at petsmart that hooks side to side on the seat mounts in the back and a short lead from that to the chest hook on the harness. With that she can go side to side, stand/sit in the back but in a roll over she would stay in the Jeep.
In the wife’s car we have a short lead with a locking caribiener clip at one end and seat belt buckle at the other. We just clip it to the front of the harness and into the middle seat belt clip and she’s secure.
Don’t know if my runner will work in the gladiator or if I’ll have to by another seat belt lead but they are inexpensive but so worth the security they provide for our four legged four wheeling buddies.
Don’t forget to post some picks of the pup enjoying the Jeep.

So I am still deciding on if the Gladiator is big enough or I need a RAM crew cab.

Any of you have two large dogs in the Gladiator? When I looked at one in person it looked like it would be pretty tight.

Our dog had back surgery so his back legs are a bit wobbly. Built a simple and removable platform for my Frontier so he won't fall off the seats and onto the floor. We just cover it all with blankets so he can lay down and enjoy the ride. Suppose we should still harness him after reading this thread, but are bad owners I guess...don't judge too harshly, I'll look into harnesses I promise. Anyway, hoping to do the same thing with the Jeep. Could make the platform cover 50-60% of the floor if traveling with a kid or third-wheel if needed.

My dog likes to be close and put her head on the middle console. Shes currently taken up residency in the front seat but I'm going to try to get her in the back seat of the Gladiator. Any suggestions on filling the gap between the front and back seats so she can still rest her head on the middle console while being in the back seat? Thanks!
