Spoke to a local dealer today

"While your vin IS affected, there's no parts availability until the 3rd quarter at the earliest according to our documents. And there is STOP-SALE for all affected VINs so we can't even sell any vehicles affected."

'What happens if it catches fire before then?'

"The document says nothing about a fire hazard"



Well, either the dealer is fucking retarded or can't read, or both. Because the recall explicitly states "FIRE HAZARD"

It will be interesting to see if they publish inspection / replacement instructions like they have done for some other recalls. I despise going to the dealership.

This connection at the PS Pump can easily be inspected. Pop out the airbox and you can get right to it. You can also see & reach it from under the vehicle.

I just inspected mine, and there are no signs of overheating or unusual conditions at the connection. Then I took it out for a drive, got home and did plenty of lock-to-lock steering inputs, then felt the connection and it was no warmer than the rest of the components around it.

Right now I see no reason to try to disconnect the connection for inspection. I'll wait to see what the 'official' inspection instructions state (assuming they become available).

Well mixed news for us. My 2025 Gladiator is safe, my wife's 2024 Wrangler is on the list.

I put my vin in the link on page one an all it does it refresh. I didnt put my plate or state as im in canada. All it does is refresh.

im guessing because its a 2026 and shouldnt be affected.

I threw it in just case to see because my ford f150 “wasnt affected” for the led frame but i still got the software update done.

The recall only applies to JLs made from Jun 24, 2020 - Dec 02, 2024, and JTs made from Aug 18, 2020 - Dec 02, 2024. No, your 2026 isn't affected.

Mine is also listed for HPFP (no surprise). I wonder if I take the gamble to have them do both? So many stories of folks having the HPFP recall done and then having issues with the fuel system shortly afterwards.

Couldn’t the battery be unhooked to prevent fire?

If folks are really freaked out about the very slight chance their vehicle may catch fire while parked then yes, disconnecting the battery is an effective way of preventing this potential issue.

The sad thing is I fully expect the result of that action would be a sudden uptick in the number of blown Z fuses and posts about the dash being dead, vehicle won't start, etc.

My main concern would be having an issue in the middle of nowhere and having something happen. I don’t want to be burned or start a wildfire.

There have been a few forum members who have reported it. One that I recall came home from work for lunch and their truck burned up in the driveway.

Another noticed smoke in some stop/go driving, pulled over, and poof.

So yes, the chances are slim, but it has happened.

I've been inspecting mine since first reading those^ stories and the connector seems to be the same as it ever has been.

I almost wonder if it's an assembly thing, like, yes our pumps were made such that the connection could be pushed in too far (or something) causing the prongs to get out of alignment, making a worse resistance, then heat - fire. So theoretically if someone on the assembly line didn't "force it home" they could be fine, for now.
