Any recommendations for easy/intermediate trails? Not wanting to get crazy but also want to get out there…. What are we using for best mapping apps?

Never been to Moab. I’m kind of jealous.

I use OnX Offroad, although it is a paid subscription it will show you pretty much every road on the map, property lines, whether private, USFS, BLM, etc. The road/trails themselves are tappable and you’ll know what you’re getting yourself into. It is also compatible with CarPlay and you can download maps to your phone in case you lose service.

+1 on the hitch skid… I drag on everything and am on 37’s.

Enjoy!

Chicken Corner is drivable in a stock truck with no lockers, it's fun and very scenic.

Heading south through town, turn right at the McDonald's and follow that road out of town along the Colorado. Then just follow the signs for Hurrah Pass, followed by Chicken Corners.

Onion Creek is an easy drive with lots of water crossings, just watch the weather this time of year if you head all the way to Polar Mesa.

I really want to recommend fins and things, but I've only done it in my 2-door. Definitely have some skids and a spotter for angles with your length.

I don't recommend Fins unless you have sliders and are okay dragging your ass. I even scraped the back of my lifted Xterra and it only has about 12" of rear overhang.

Start saving, I’ll be there August 26-30 ??
I’ll be doing Fins n Things , Poison Spider, Top of the World, Elephant Hill, and Hell’s Revenge. First time for me in Moab too. As long as it drives home, battle scars are fine with me.

I went last May and spent 10 days in the area. OnX worked flawlessly for me.

The other tool that I used and helped immensely in planning the trails I wanted to do was the FunTreks guide to Moab UT Backroads and 4 wheel drive trails. One of the good things in this book is it has the trails broken down in Easy/Moderate/Difficult trails. You can adapt your plan based on how comfortable you were on a particular trail.

As for easy intermediate trail suggestions:

Easy - Onion Creek, Potash Road/Shafer Switchbacks, Tusher Tunnel, Gemini Bridges (I think these all can be done in 2wd)
Intermediate - Chicken Corners, Hidden Canyon Overlook, Courthouse Rock

As far as Fin's and Things, you will drag the tail and a hitch skid is a good investment. If you are unsure if you want to tackle the trail you can do Baby Lions Back and see if you want to even do that type of trail.

If you want to look at my trip, the actual visit in my Journal starts here : Kajo's Moab Trip 2023

Grab an Easter Jeep Safari magazine from the Red Rock 4-Wheelers when you get to town. The magazines are available all over town. You should be able to navigate the 5 and lower rated trails without wrecking much.

I always wondered about when going to Moab to do trails rated 3 to 6, if I should leave my rooftop tent at home. I’m running 3-1/2 in lift and 37” tires.

Fins is no problem. I do have a hitch skid and it is useful in Moab in general but if you don't care if the hitch itself scraps then its no big deal. I did the Jamboree there and I had a skid and another did not. It's nice but not a must. We did Fins, Poison Spider, Steel Bender. (My skid plate is Skid Mark brand)

I do trails up to 7 with the same height lift and tires as you have. I have a Super Pacific canopy/tent and it’s fine. As long as you don’t put a bunch of other weight up high. Be safe!

I was there last weekend and did Potash Road/Shafer Switchbacks with my stock Mojave with no rubbing/dragging... check out the funtreks books on Amazon, i really like the mileage log they include for all the trails

I ran plenty of trails in the ORACLE Lighting Gladiator. It is a bit longer with lesser approach and departure angles. Just be aware and don't wheel alone. Trails done on this trip... Steel Bender, Gemini Bridges, 7 Mile Rim, Hell's Revenge, Fins and Things and others I can't remember.

Hopefully if not this autumn, the next one. I’m hoping maybe a mid September to October.

What are the build specs on the Oracle JT though? I think it would help up gauge just how capable our trucks can be with similar lifts, tires, etc.
