Has anyone moved their backup camera from the tailgate to the top of their rack/ shell/ camper? I want to get a swing away spare tire mount but don't want to lose the factory backup camera functions.
I think I found the cable necessary, but I'm curious about the change in perspective by moving it up higher.

Yeah, if it's the same camera as the JL/ JLU than the cable can be found up to 60".
I carry mountain bikes on a hitch rack, so It would be nice to get the camera up higher. I"m just not sure if the camera perspective would be jacked up by moving it that much higher. I figured some of the Alu Cab camper guys would have had to come up with something

The height/angle/longitudinal position may distort the image depending on how wide-angle/fisheye of a lens it is, and may throw off the real-world position of the guidelines. That would be my main concern. I assume the guidelines are just a fixed graphic over the image.

Have you done the relocation yet? I also carry bikes almost constantly and have ordered a cap so I can hopefully use the camera again.

You may be able to use the relocation bracket we have for the Alu-Cab Canopy Campers. It will fit the full camera housing from the tailgate as well as another camera if you choose. I have the tailgate camera and a Brandmotion Fullvue rear mirror setup on my Alu-Cab.

This is a link to the cable that will work, you just need to tell them how long you want it. For the Alu-Cab I get a 180"/15' cable to go from under the bumper and up through the camper to the center area above the door.
